I've seen girls buy white dresses that were totally inappropriate for our purposes before and get burned when ritual either made them get a different dress or turned them away from whatever we were doing.

Very true.
Some advice for New Members:
*Be sure to ask your New Member Educator what the SPECIFIC guidelines are for Ritual attire.
Ask: Is it okay to wear something strapless? If so, do I need to buy a cardigan? What is the appropriate length? Is off-white allowed? How long/short are dresses allowed to be?
*If you purchase something, make sure you show it to your Ritual Chair or someone in charge to make sure it is appropriate. Don't assume that because it's white, it's okay for ritual.
*Also, be sure to keep the receipt or leave the tags on it just in case it is deemed inappropriate has to be returned.
*Don't wait until like the week before to try and find something. You want to make sure you have enough time.
