White dress alert

Target has tasteful all-white dresses available if you should need one. I tried to find it online but it wasn't on their site,

Oooo, thanks--I need to go. I want to shop for one now for daughter #4 and not get stuck like I did with #1 at the end of August, looking for a white dress everywhere.

Is it socially aceptable to buy clothes from Target? Like would you care if people saw you buy clothes from there?

I thought women liked to buy from so-called classier stores.

I amj ust thinking about the sorority girls necessity thread.

I wouldn't be caught dead in a dress from Target and I'm not even that status conscious. I was just raised w/ that you don't wear clothes that cheap if you wanted to be taken seriously. I would go on longer about this, but I don't want to hijack.

I'm sorry to sound rude, but you just made yourself sound so stuck up.

i know where you are coming from. i am actually the same way. shoes are another story. i love getting shoes from target, wal mart, etc. but i do not like to get clothes from there. although i have heard that target has really good clothes. i still dont want to get it from there. it sounds kind of stuck up. but it really just a matter of preference.

Target actually has really nice clothes, good quality and designed by Mossimo and Isaac Mizrahi (sp?). Wal-Mart, however, is another story...

I am the opposite. I only wear good shoes. I don't mind buying clothes from Target if they look good and are reasonably well-made. I mean, nobody knows if your plain black t-shirt came from Target or Neiman Marcus! I think accessories make the woman.

Target has some good and bad stuff. I think it makes a difference in what you are buying it for.

I went with my mom there the other day to get some stuff.. she hates buying expensive clothes for work bc she is a k-teacher. She is always coming home with paint, food, or whatnot on her clothes from the kids.

Anyways.. if you are looking for a white dress just for pledge/initiation purposes which you dont plan on wearing other than for this.. go ahead and buy it cheaper. I know after these events I never wore my outfit again. I was never trying to make a fashion statement at these events.

Edited bc I cant type today.

target...

I think you can find ugly junk in an expensive store just like you can anywhere else. Ugly is ugly no matter how much it costs.

And I was raised in a family with one working parent and a food stamp pantry. I was in the 8th grade before my family actually started to make more money. We were lucky to get clothes from Goodwill so when I got old enough to get my own job I was DAMN PROUD to have Wal-Mart and Target clothes. I bought them myself and to this day I am concious of what I buy. It has nothing to do with "being raised" a certain way. You can look good and be taken seriously in a sack dress if you carry yourself well and believe in your own strengths.

Sorry to be rude but this is a very touchy subject to me.

I'm reading this thread and LMAO!!! Mr. honeychile's niece was a model, and in her portfolio, she has photos from varying stores. The Target clothes looks SO much better than some of the clothes from say, Saks! When I mentioned it to her, she showed the clothes to me (she usually got to keep them), and sure enough, even the quality was better.

If you really emotionally need that designer label, for heaven's sake, go for it! Rich designers need to live, too! But don't fool yourself into thinking you're getting the best money can buy!
