I have been reading Greek Chat for weeks. There is so much great info out there. I am also going to Cal State Northridge in the fall, but I'll be a freshman. My mom's sorority doesn't have a chapter there. I am a legacy of ABC sorority. My grandma didn't think I was; I had to show her the policies from her sorority, and find her the info for sending a recommendation.
I have a more distant relative from XYZ sorority on campus. I am just starting to try and find any other family or friends from the other sororities. The OP asked how competitive recruitment at CSUN is; that is what I would like to know too. Should I spend a lot of time going through family contacts, the local alumnae assoc, etc, to get recommendations for all the sororities on campus?
They are: Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Zeta, and Kappa Kappa Gamma.
cali_gossip said that "most end up somewhere". I really don't want to be one who doesn't make it. I read nervousmama's story. Its weird knowing that I could meet both of them next fall. I don't want to be a stalker, but I would appreciate it if either one of you, or anyone else on GC, could give me any specific info on CSUN.
A friend of mine emailed the contact for Greek Life at CSUN with all of the suggested questions that we saw here on GC about recruitment (like What goes on at recruitment events? How should I dress for the recruitment events?, etc). She never got an answer.
Thanks for any info anyone can give me.

Recs from people you know personally are best, so exhaust your personal contacts before going to the local alumnae panhellenic.

hello take 5,
man, you are an early bird! honestily, please dont even think about what to wear till june, till then, keep your gpa the highest it can be because some houses automatically have to cut you due to GPA reasons. try to see if you can leave HS with a 3.0 then you can get a fair shot at all houses during recruitment.

Nervousmama, your posts about rushing were so much fun to read. I really enjoyed it.
I'll be transferring there this fall. I'm an upperclassman majoring in chemistry. I'd like to get my masters there too. I found this forum and was searching for 'CSUN' because I had a couple of questions.
I'm really happy that the sororities at CSUN accept juniors and seniors, but I'm wondering if they accept non-traditional students. Non-traditional as in...I'm 31 years old and have been married almost two years.
I'm not worried about not having enough time for college or Greek life; I'll be in college full time. I'm curious if there are age requirements or if sororities might think it odd to have a married women rush. Has there been any instances of married women joining a sorority?
Perhaps I will meet you Nervousmama and I can tell you how awesome your rush story was in person.
