Italy's Prime Minister calls Obama "handsome and even-tanned". http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081106/...rlusconi_obama

Part of me loves that he just says stupid stuff because he wants to and the other part of me just thinks he's an imbecile. But I still LOLed.

It wasn't my post, but here it is: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...9&postcount=51

I thought I'd read about a baby already receiving the FIRST name of Obama -- maybe I misread it and it was the same baby you're talking about. It's actually a pretty cool first name, I'll be more impressed when there's a flood of "Barack"s born.

I was quite appalled at some of my friends facebook statuses as well:

-welcomes everyone to the USSA: United Socialist States of America.

-THIS COUNTRY IS F-ED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-well country, it's been nice knowing ya, welcome to the change of socialism.

There was even one about how putting the country in the hands of liberals has just handed the country to terrorists...something along that line. A lot of my friends have commented on the negativity and how they're not happy with it.

One gem I saw was a bubblehead skank from myspace with a F**K Obama profile picture and the headline that Obama is going to ruin what's left of the country.

Then there were all the stupid comments by people threatening to move to Canada.

While these are stupid, they're not even from the same planet as the actually offensive prejudice shown earlier in the thread - and that's even accounting for racial bias in the overreaction to any specter of 'wealth redistribution'.

You know, I am exhausted with the judgment calls made about folks who are enacting their right to freely express themselves. Although I feel exuberant about President Obama's win, I would not restrict a person's right to say a comment contrary to my buzzed Pres Obama high...

If I felt similar to these people, I probably would not describe my anger, frustration, fear and hatred in the terminology they did. It elicits the reasons behind their insecurities. And if they are doing it on Facebook, it probably means most of them are under 40--suggesting their youthful indiscretion.

Just because someone posts personal angst, does mean we have to read it, respond to it or be in "their" misery of their words...

This tactile response psychology is similar to substance abuse and addiction...

What are we going to do for our future? There are worse problem out there to tackle than what the Electorate chose as their leader... We must be unified in our response. How will we get there?
