I can't believe Hollywood is milking this one again-will it ever die? I think I have lost total respect for Carrie Fisher. Isn't she still making decent coin off of the Star Wars royalties?

The Hills star Audrina Patridge has pledged Sorority Row, joining the remake of the 1983 horror flick The House on Sorority Row as an ill-fated coed along with Samurai Girl Jamie Chung. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Carrie Fisher is also in talks to join the popcorn flick as the mother of the sorority sisters, who try to cover up two members' deaths when a prank goes wrong only to become victims themselves of a serial killer. Rumer Willis is also on board.

If it makes money, Hollywood will remake it until Jesus returns.

Now, if Carrie Fisher is involved, it might actually be a spoof, or a comedy remake...she usually does quality work.

Uhhhhhh.... Carrie Fisher doesn't get royalties from Star Wars. George Lucas does. George Lucas made a genius move by getting all merchandising rights.

1977 – In exchange for a USD 20,000.00 salary cut as director of a feature length film, 20th Century Fox executives sign over all merchandising rights for products relating to the as yet unreleased first Star Wars film to director George Lucas, as well as merchandising rights to all sucessive films in the series, clearly underestimating the sales potential of toy spaceships and action figurines. The combined revenue from the sucessive mechandising of what became the most financially sucessful feature film franchise in filmaking history is estimated to have exceeded USD 3,000,000,000.00 at last estimate, and continues to grow annually. It remains today the single most lucrative deal ever struck between an individual and a corporate studio in entertainment history.

Carrie Fisher doesn't get royalties - she doesn't have image rights to anything Star Wars-related.

Now, image rights are a significant issue (eg, Disney wanted to use Amy Adams' image to market Giselle from the movie enchanted as a new Disney Princess in their merchandise line, but decided not to when they realized they'd have to cut a royalty deal with Adams), but in 1977, it was a totally new phenomenon.

Now, it's true that Carrie Fisher sometimes does promotions for Star Wars in order to earn a buck (doing signatures for pretty decent fees, and most notably recently appearing as the lead guest at the official Star Wars Celebration IV convention), and has been noted for being one of the stars most willing to participate in SW stuff like movie commentaries (whereas Harrison Ford is extremely aloof and rarely even does signatures - when he does, they're top dollar and in limited numbers), but she doesn't get money from Leia action figures or anything.
