It's an unfortunate problem that the housed fraternities have been helping us with. During recruitment, the unhoused chapters host their recruitment activities out of a fraternity house. During the school year, the unhoused sororities hold meetings in classrooms or the student union. It's not ideal, but it's worked for us for a long time.

There's been talk of building a second phase of Greek Park or a Greek Lodge for years now, but nothing has formally broken ground. Some fraternities that were housed on campus have been kicked off in the past few years, and there's some prime real estate sitting in limbo while the house corporations and the university argue over the land.

There aren't any dorm floors assigned to the unhoused sororities. Many students live off-campus and reserve blocks of apartments in the same complex together. As it is, the housed sororities only house 30 or so members... and most of the UCF chapters are much, much larger than that!

As a result of the housed/unhoused sorority situation, some PNMs may initially turn up their noses at the unhoused chapters. It isn't fair or accurate to do so, but it does happen... and the perceptions change very much once a previously unhoused chapter gets a house. I don't think it is fair, but short of kicking the men out of their houses on Greek Row, I don't know how else to fix the problem. I do think it would be a great idea to hold the first few rounds of recruitment in the student union to help even the playing field. However, I don't know how this could work logistically because the sorority chapters are so large and there are so many PNM's.
