Oh, those weren't my experiences. My experience was that the sorority was just a waste of time and money. We didn't do anything. And I wasn't trying to get into another sorority at the time.

What are your plans now that you have resigned your sorority?

But you sound like such a catch.
Seriously, if for some reason you matched with a group that wasn't worth it and you stuck with it through initiation and then disaffiliated [ETA: resigned membership]and went around telling people how lame and "not worth it" the group was, why would you assume that you'd even get a bid to a "better" and more "worth it" group? You seem like kind of a bad risk, frankly.

I'd just like to say that I think it's misleading to refer to this type of situation as "disaffiliation" or "disaffiliated." It may be technically correct, but "disaffiliation" is something recruitment counselors do to temporarily disassociate themselves from their sorority in order to serve in a neutral role during formal recruitment. The situations described in this thread should really be referred to as "termination of membership" or "resignation" which is obviously permanent.

Then why were all your other posts asking about refs for KKG, if you were already told that you couldn't initiate into another sorority? That was rude to the KKGs on here who took time to answer your questions.

Many members use disaffiliate incorrectly. I believe most organizations prefer the term "Resign Membership."

Yeah, I had no idea she had already been initiated. Now I'm rather glad she had been.

haha. I love when people say this because it's such crap. When I joined SAI, my chapter had just come back from a really tough time. We didn't do much. Were not affiliated with the school, didn't have chapter or inter-greek socials.
GUESS WHAT I DID TO CHANGE IT. I got on Exec, nominated a sister for a province award, nominated my chapter for two awards from the university, helped plan an inter-greek formal, pushed for inter-greek socials, made sure every sister had a copy of the yearbook directory, submitted a excerpt for each issue of Tempo!, helped plan and participated in numerous service projects, and planned and coordinated our first chapter composite since 2005, and that was all in one year.
My chapter maintained our affiliation with the university for the first full year since we were chartered. And, we won that award from the university--"Overall Excellence in Community Service". We beat out 3 D9s, two NPCs, and a few other well established campus orgs.
Being greek isn't about what the chapter can do for you. It's about what you can do to change the chapter and make it better.

Hey! Thanks guys! My and my lil were just talking today about how our chapter was on the brink of greatness. We have come so far this year and it's not just because of me. Other people put in hours too.
It was hard work. But, it has been so worth it just to see my chapter improve and gain the reputation we have today!
