If you are under their suggested or required g.p.a., you need to concentrate on your EDUCATION first - that's what you are in college for, after all! Once you have raised your grades and feel you can take on the extra challenge of sorority membership, THEN go through recruitment.

Does it say suggested or required?

If you are below their "suggested GPA" chances are that your GPA is lower than most (if not all) of the individual sorority GPAs.

What this would mean is that you are allowed to participate, but that you would very likely not receive bid, since sororities have a national minimum GPA that girls must meet in order to join.

Unless you have a ton of extracurriculars and friends in sororities, it is not very likely that a sorority will take someone who is below their minimum. I suggest focusing on your education first.
