Whats so surprising about her asking for her friend? Why would she be embarassed to ask for herself--this is the internet, no one knows her or will ever see her anyway.

Anyway, to answer your question-- I believe your friend can still pledge another sorority as long as she wasn't initiated into the one she depledged.
