Worst summer job...... well, it wasn't SUPPOSED to be a summer job, but I started in the summer and ended after a month in 2003. I worked for a Business professor who was also the Editor in Chief of a business ethics journal. The work itself wasn't hard, but he was an awful manager. He micromanaged incessantly. He wouldn't even let me keep a box of Kleenex on the desk! He said my phone was a distraction even though it was never on. He was just horrible. After a friend of mine died that summer, I tried going back for a week, and I said fuck it, this isn't even worth it. I told him I would give him two weeks, but I called and said yeah..... I'm not coming back.
ETA: I forgot that I even went to HR to complain about him and ended up bursting into tears. I literally had NEVER cried out of frustration in my LIFE. The lady said "Honey.... you're young, you're smart.... you can quit this job. Plus, we know he's impossible to work for."
Best summer job..... worked at the National Library of Medicine every summer from 1995 to 1999. BEST. SUMMER JOB. EVER. Air conditioned buildings, various cafeterias all around campus, a GREAT lecture about AIDS from Dr. Anthony Fauci every summer, diverse environment, lots of young people every summer...and we basically played on the internet alllll day. (If you didn't work in the stacks, which I didn't.)
