I understand his intent and certainly his frustration, but fully agree with this. It was lowering himself.
ETA: I also kinda don't trust it. NO politicians are spontaneous or off the cuff anymore- they plan each and every statement and move to appeal to the press and their constituency. This comes off as slightly disingenuous, and pandering in an attempt to come off as hard on crime.
