OK I just did a little research, and even though the ADPi Badge was mis-described, the person who bought it still got a deal.
The Alpha Delta Pi NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS sells a plain yellow gold Badge for $80 (White Gold for $95).
www.fratpins.com has 2 plain ones for sale: 1 is $95, and the other is $75.
The person on ebay paid $61.......so even though the description was mistaken, they still got a better deal then other places, even better than the OFFICIAL place.
So what, an inexperienced Badge collector made a mistake, it happens, not everyone is perfect.

Granted "Adelta" is a typo, but this pin is three years old, NOT 103. That's a huge difference. This is not at all honest, it is blatantly misrepresenting the truth. And if this person deals in pin collecting like it appears, there is absolutely no excuse for his ignorance. It is fraudulent misrepresentation.

C'mon, Dani. You know it's not fraud unless there was actual knowledge that the badge was only three years old and an intent to deceive. The seller certainly should have known better, but haven't we all had enough experience to know that doesn't mean he actually did know better?

Leslie Ann is right -- there's not a thing HQs can do about it. As has been discussed on GC before, from a legal standpoint (as opposed to a moral or ethical standpoint), these policies and documents stating that the GLO "owns" the badge and the member just "leases" it aren't worth the paper they're written on. First, most such policies were only instituted in the last few decades, so they simply can't apply to members initiated before the policies were put in place. Second, such policies and "lease agreements" are essentially unenforceable.
If a member of a GLO cares about what happens to his or her badge after death, specific instructions need to be left either in funeral instructions (for burial) or a will.

My apologies to those who were insulted for figuring it out, There are some really smart people on GC (alot can be learned from this site, pls some wonderful contacts), but there are also plenty of arrogant ones too.
