ooh lawd both families seemed to be on opposite sides of the crazy scale:

the city family was so hell-bent on cleaning and being "cultured" and the country family, well, theyy seemed to equate farm life to being straight up nasty and earthy. if you ask me, both set of kids could end up part of the Prozac nation - the city kids might end up being some hippie artists that end up starving for their art, and the country kids could end up some worldly professors who desperately leave their past behind.

again, why cant people find a happy medium? i mean, most things are OK in moderation.

but i couldnt help laughing at the country family - did you see how the son was spazzing out? he went in the kitchen and took a shot of EGG YOLK!!!

LOL, I saw that, poor boy had to take a raw egg shot to calm down.

With them not brushing their teeth, they probably have all kinds of dental problems and if they don't know there has been research that links certain kinds of health problems with dental problems.

Just Nasty!!!

My co-workers and I were just discussing this show. I suspect that children services was knockin on their door bright and early this a.m. It is against the law to not have your kids in school. Plus having your children in those nasty living conditions should be a crime. I really felt bad for the kids, they appered to be really brainwashed. They are very lucky that they have not been seriously ill from that raw food.

It was very disgusting! But that father falling out crying had me cracking up! That was so hilarious--I had to wipe the tears out of my eyes from laughing so hard.

I could not believe that mother wanted ol' dude to donate all of his nice clothes. She had to be insane!

I don't watch regularly but I remember an episode with a 'raw-itarian' chick (she even made the cat vegetarian) who was trying to find a way to get all of her nourishment from the sun. The guy she got swapped with told her that African kids have all the sun they want but they are still starving. She's like "oh, I guess you have a point there."

I was ROTFL!

BTW, I was flipping through the channels, saw Zorro and thought that Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones should do a wife swap (permanently).

Although I did not watch the episode, I am from Iowa, and there were many articles in the local newspapers yesterday about the episode. Apparently child services was inundated with phone calls and emails after the episode aired, but they are not going to do anything because "it is not against the law for peoples houses to be dirty or for them to have certain food beliefs." Also, they were able to prove that they have paperwork registering the children to be homeschooled and a certified teacher from the West Des Moines school district monitors the childrens progress and according to her, they are learning what they need.

I wish I would have seen the episode though...
