So, she visited the rest today - there's still another day of open house tomorrow, but her schedule was crammed into two days.
Pink - her other legacy chapter, she really liked this one
Lavender - not one of her favorites
Tan - didn't stand out much to her
Green - she didn't expect to like this one at all and was pleasantly surprised
Turquoise - she didn't like this one as much as she expected, but she got picked up at the door by a girl she knows, so that was nice
Blue - she had a bad experience with them pre-recruitment but liked them a lot today
Magenta - not one of her favorites
Brown - she really liked this one but fears she'll be cut due to a personal connection
Black - she was really offended by a few questions here, and didn't like them much as a result
White - one of her favorites from pre-recruitment, but they didn't make a huge impression today
She doesn't rank until tomorrow evening, but so far she's planning to rank them (in no particular order except for the bottom five):
1. Red
1. Yellow
1. Gray
1. Purple
1. Gold
1. Silver
1. Pink
1. Green
1. Turquoise
1. Blue
1. Brown
1. White
2. Tan
3. Lavender
4. Magenta
5. Black
6. Orange
She's really hoping for invites from purple, pink, red, blue, and brown the most.

Is Miami a public school or private? If public, it's interesting to me that they do deferred recruitment as I've only seen it at private schools.
ADqtPiMel, maybe you can provide some insight to me?

It is a state school. They used to do fall recruitment - not sure when it changed over.

It's more common in the Northeast to defer recruitment for public schools. Examples of public schools with deferred recruitment include Maryland, Delaware, UVA, VA Tech, a bunch of smaller state schools in PA, some SUNY schools.

I also remember hearing that a lot of the schools that do deferred allow upperclasswomen to go through "informal" during the fall--that's how we did it, at least...

At Maryland you have to have 12 credits to join a GLO. Freshmen with 12 or more AP credits are allowed to pledge, but the vast majority of fall semester new members are sophomores. Juniors do pledge but they are few in the fall, just like freshmen.

Another article about recruitment at Miami of Ohio
http://media.www.miamistudent.net/me...epublisher.com
Highlights ... 968 women attended open house round
and only 60 people can be in the chapter suite at one time - due to fire codes

Yes that rule drives me crazy because Alpha Phi and some other groups (AXO, ADPI, ZTA, DDD, AOPI come to mind) have very large suites that could definitely hold more sisters. Although I do understand they need to make it more even for everyone, ie its not far if sorority XYZ can only have 60 but A Phi can have 80. However on slid side our suite is larger so it can look empty and cause are party not to look as good.
Can't wait to hear bid day results on Monday!
