Up and down
All this talk about the old row got me to thinking about University of Alabama, my brother was a Sigma Nu at Alabama late 70's, we lived in Tuscaloosa right next to Indian Hills Country Club, my old man managed one of the biggest plants in town. Things do change guys, what about ATO, Phi Delt Kappa Sig all very good in the late 70's early 80's. Sig Ep went inactive in the mid 80's when their house burnt down. Chi Phi used to be good as well or so I've heard.
At UT Austin where I went to school same thing happened. Sigma Nu-founded 1887 was very good when I went there same for Pike-founded 1920, Beta -founded 1886. all are now gone or are much smaller. ATO was very good at SMU where I went to law school they've been gone for 11 years.
Bottom line, being old can make you good but the correlation is not 100% and things do change even in the tradition bound south.

Of course things will change. However, a non traditional fraternity on a traditional southern campus is still likely to struggle for quite a while.

I'm on the same page as all of you. I'm a member of a top chapter at an SEC and come from a prominent southern family. I also support Fred Thompson. Unfortunately, I think we have a lot in common.
Although what you write is usually true, some of it is entirely inappropriate and very crude.
I hate the yankees coming down here and ruining everything too. I hate idealists who really think that every greek organization is equal. I hate that the traditions of southern greek life are not always accepted here.
But your comments benefit no one. Trash talking other groups is embarrassingly disrespectful, even if it is evident that what you write is true.
Do me a favor: start acting like gentlemen and display some sense of discretion.

All of those comments were made 8 months ago. I think everyone is fine now.

This may be may favorite thread of all time..... To all that have posted, I sincerely thank you. Good reading!
Anywho, Sigma Nu at UT Austin was a very good chapter. However, as mentioned, they are gone. Not even having the greatness that is Lloyd Bentsen as an alum could save them after the hazing they got in trouble for in 1990-1991.
Macallan, I say we bring this thread back up to the front every 3 weeks or so, just to give this forum some posts that are about real-live-actual fraternity & sorority chapters.
