It is not always said, but the image is always out there in the media. Take country music for example. Some artists glorify being "white trash" or "redneck", but other white people would HATE being called that or hearing the terms used from another race. So what is everyone else supposed to think? Is it okay or not? The same thing goes with the N word. The point is every ethinicity has a side that its people don't want to be completely represented by.
