For the record (because it's been buggin' me)...
Expansion: When a university or college decides to invite a new sorority or fraternity on campus.
Extension: When a GLO decides to establish a chapter on a campus.

I honestly didn't know the difference - thanks!
As for Siggy_lxvi's "question": different GLOs and different campuses insist on a certain level of interest prior to allowing a colony to be initiated members. Whichever is the larger number is what the colony needs to proceed.

Actually, I see the term "expansion" used by the men's groups and "extension" used more by the women's groups.
For example, on Pi Kappa Alpha's website they list "Recent Expansions"
http://www.pikes.org/infoCenter/recentExpansions.aspx
and on the SAE website:
http://www.saefraternity.org/?r=frat...sr=colony_list

The Sigma Pi colony at University of Oregon will find out in April if they will get their charter. From reading the article, they have a good shot at gaining their charter.
Also, according to the Kappa Alpha Theta forum, Theta pledged 92 women to their new chapter at University of North Florida. Congratulations!

Best of luck to those presenting (and yay us too)
Please let us know who has been selected to colonize once it happens.

Alpha Sigma Phi recently re-colonized its Bloomsburg University chapter. Congratulations to the 33 new colony members.

That could be interesting - our International Convention 2008 is scheduled for San Antonio. Would be nice timing to have a new chapter in the city right as a whole flock of sisters were about to come to town.
Best of luck to all who are presenting! Its nice to hear about campuses where the Greek system is growing, regardless of which chapters ultimately get the opportunities.
