I am for AI, but only in the following situations:
* A woman pledged a certain sorority, but for whatever reason, couldn't finish her NM period, and is seeking AI with that same sorority.
*A woman has a daughter who pledged a certain sorority, and she would also like to become a member of that sorority.
*A woman was a member of a local that was absorbed by a certain sorority, and wishes to become a member that sorority.

These are the two ways that I think AI is right.

I approve of Alumnae Initiation because for many reasons outside your control, it is not possible at times to join a sorority in college. Financial reasons, parents not approving (this is mainly relevant if you are living at home), classes or extracurriculars relevant to major requiring too much time and work (eg- you are pre-med or pre-vet and have to do a certain amount of volunteering in addition to 15 credits of tough classes per semester), or there simply not being any social GLOs at your institution. When you are an adult living on your own and having a full time job with a salary, you may be able to contribute more to an organization in ways that you would not have been able to do when you were an undergraduate of the average undergraduate age.

I am against these threads. I don't see the point and even with the rules, I have a feeling there will be problems.
I guess I just don't see what this will accomplish.
But, for those of you who do, have fun!

I am for AI if the sorority seeks out the PNAI under special circumstances because of her connection to the sorority through a family member, friend or colleague, or she is an outstanding member of the community whom the sorority would like to include, and not the other way around.
AI is not alumnae recruitment.

So, does that mean since this thread is "winning" in post count, that it gets a prize??
Ok...I'm really just grasping at reasons that we have 4 threads to discuss the same thing that turns into a trainwreck anyway. But then again, I guess you could make that argument for 80% of this forum.

You are trying to join a sorority as an AI, obviously you would be for AI. I figured that was a given.

But people should realize that you can be in a sorority and be pre-med and pre-vet. I know girls from my chapter who were pre-med and pre-vet, and they have all gone on to be accepted to vet schools and medical schools.

As do I - and most of them are on full scholarships.

A collegiate chapter of a sorority and an alumnae association are two entirely different animals. Collegiate programming is the core of sorority life. Alumnae membership is for the warm fuzzies and to support collegiate programming. Please cease posting about your AI search if you truly want to be an AI. You're doing yourself more harm than good. This remark is not in violation of the TOS and is not intended as a personal attack. It's advice... a reason that used to draw people to the recruitment forum.

I hope you understand that many GC PNAMs do not at all fit into your hypothetical categories. It seems that many PNAMs who show up here and post their story have had unsuccessful college recruitments and their "dream" never died. When they post about how they want to get in contact with four different groups but they don't know a single soul in any of them, it raises huge red flags for many other GC posters.
It would be nice if most GC PNAMs were never able to join as an undergrad because of parental disapproval/money/no sororities on campus, but that is not what occurs on this forum. Women come on and say "I rushed three times as an undergraduate and always got dropped by philanthropy night but I always wanted to be Greek and omgz now I have another chance!!!" In your post, you failed to mention this incredibly common scenario...and that kind of situation is specifically what angers the anti-AI members.
