to my girls ....
GKB:
Induction tonight into the National Junior Honor Society – your faith and hard work is paying off before your eyes. Add to that, your award last night as a City Wide All-Star Scholastic Performer, (two years in a row), and words cannot convey my feelings about the young lady I’m watching you become. (Ok, you're 13, so I will even start to pull up about the after school dances ....a little bit.)
EDB:
And yes, when you're 30, you'll still be my "baby." Another year on the Honor Roll and a nomination for Second grade class president. Like you, I really don’t know why the second grade needs a class president either, but, baby, you got to give the people what they want.... My suggestion, Madame President? Extra cookies at lunch time and more break time for Mrs. Lee (that should help with the faculty vote)
You guys cannot know the honor you give me of being your dad. It is a pleasure watching you continue to soar. God Bless you both.
Love,
Daddy

Dear TonyB06:
I love reading your letters to your girls! You are a fantabulous daddy! I hope they and their mother know how lucky they are to have you as a dad!
All the best,
a fellow parent.
ps: a 2nd grade class president? Future politician on our hands? The first black woman president?!!

Dear Tony B,
You should write a book. A collection of letters to your daughters. It'd be a hit and I could get a cut of your profits.

That's a good idea. OR at least write them these letters and share them with your daughters on a special day -- off to college day, wedding day.

thanks, N1920,
Right now, I think she's peeping that VP slot from Barack. We'll have to work out some kind of independent study thing for 3rd grade if she has to go to Washington. lol

...hey, hey, don't be rushing any wedding days, please.
You guys are all kind in your comments. I just try to be the kind of man that I'd want them to look to have in their own lives. ......years down the road that is, cause right now I will hurt somebody's child for real, for real.

Dear Tony B,
I just love the letters to your daughters. Speaking as a thirty something year old 'Daddy's Girl', they will just love it when (or if) you present these letters to them when they go off to college or get married. I write letters to my sons all the time, and I'm saving them in a scrapbook for them when they're grown men. My letters go back to the day I found out I was pregnant with each of them. My mother suggested I do that as a special gift for each of them.

To The Following:
Dear BET:
You are the DEVIL!! You put "A Different World" on at 11pm knowing good and dayum well that I need to go to sleep in order to be up for bar review in the morning! You also KNOW that there is NO WAY that I can go to sleep while one of my favorite shows is on, thus forcing me to stay up later and watch these episodes as if I haven't seen them 1,908 times before. Sigh.... It's my only escape from the cards I have been dealt this summer.
Anyway, you still suck!
Dear Bar/Bri:
Thank you for Jason Kilborn! He is the Security Rights GURU and I don't know what I would do without him. Please let him to teach MORE subjects that are tested on the bar exam. He's so effective! I HEART JASON KILBORN!
Dear Bar Exam:
I'm going to kick you a**!
Dear Devil:
PLEASE stop creeping into my mind with your wicked messages of failure. I know that I can defeat this exam and I won't let you tell me otherwise. Passing this exam HAS been done before and it WILL be done again. Come Hell or high water, my hand WILL be raised in October.
Dear Everyone:
Save a prayer for me when you get a chance.

Dear BET:
Sigh....
As FURTHER proof that you are the DEVIL, while taking a break from studying, I happened to turn on the TV Guide. As it scrolled around to BET, lo and behold, there is "A Different World" mini-MARATHON that pops off at 10 p.m., complete with the episode where Kim pledges Alpha Delta Rho and the episode where Tisha Campbell plays "Josie," the student with AIDS. Have you been reading my mind?! I was JUST thinking about that episode three days ago. If the Byron/Whitley/Dwayne wedding episodes had been in the mix, I would SURELY be on the line with the closest priest that I could find because an exorcism for you would be in order!
In the words of Thing 1 and Thing 2, your evil ways have been "EXPOSED"!! However, little do you know, I have NO problem staying up until the wee hours of the morning. I don't have a class tomorrow and I have lots of things to scan over while watching the episodes. You thought you were gonna win, huh? Get BEHIND me, Satan!

Dear God,
Remember that man you sent my way? The one you made just for me? Well, he got lost so can you give him a nudge in the right direction? He'll never ask for directions so I thought I'd intercede on his behalf. Don't give him the shortcut, though--with good timing he'll show up after this pesky Master's is out of the way.
Thanks a bunch,
CG

Dear SCD:
I miss you already. How on earth am I going to raise our daughter alone? I'm so scared. I know I don't have to ask you this, but keep an eye on her. She misses you already. Did you see her at your memorial? She was so strong, I was so proud of our little soldier. We'll meet again, someday. I love you and will always keep your memory alive for our Princess.
Missing you,
Queen Mommy
