The more years I gain in age, the more kindness resonates with me. I really notice when people go out of their way to be kind, and I also notice when people don't (for whatever reason) make the effort. I think you noticed it as well when you were going through recruitment. I also think you made a great choice of chapters, and will be very content with your choice in the long run.
And of course, you can be both kind AND good lookin'.
