They do both have that "look." And I can understand how the mistake is made if you're not familiar with different breeds of dog. No biggie to me. :-)

Ok, so I have to tell this story, I'll try to be quick. We lost Sadie when I was pregnant with my son (my second). She ate a mole who had eaten mole poison in one of the neighbors yards. Very tragic, she was young and my husbands baby. The following spring, my hub and I decided we were ready for a second dog again. So we started looking around for german shepherds, but looking at shelters. I found a shepherd girl and a shepherd-husky mix girl at the pound in my hometown in northern Ohio (4 hours away from where I live now). Then the dog warden tells me that they are filled to capacity, they are currently euthanizing dogs that dont get adopted within 3 days, and the shepherd-husky mix is very pregnant, and the GS girl is possibly pregnant, because she's in heat and was in it when they caught her. So... knowing that we are NOT capable of adopting a pregnant dog, I started making phone calls because I had to rescue these girls. I found an office manager at a vets office that also does work for the SW Ohio Canine Search and Rescue team. She agreed to take both females on as rescue cases. We go up to my hometown, and holy crap the mix gave birth the day before! Five tiny beautiful puppies. THEN my husband sees Apollo. He was an adorable dog, a heart breaking story of being abandoned at a foreclosed house. So my husband wanted him. The drive back to Cinci is unforgetable. A mama dog and her newborns in a big kennel in the back of my Trailblazer. The in-heat shepherd tethered next to her (had to cover the kennel with a blanket to keep moma calm). Apollo went into the front seat with my hub who was driving, and I managed to wedge my butt between 2 carseats in the backseat. 8 dogs, a 4 months old baby, a 2 year old toddler, and 2 cranky adults. Happy endings though. Apollo still has a loving home, the shepherd girl was fixed right away, and was adopted by another S&R family and has since been trained as a rescue dog. The moma and all 5 of her pups all were adopted by families on the condition that if they ever had to give the dog(s) up, they would either come back to me, or the office manager.
