Why don't fat men (some of whom are genetically predisposed to increased fat in the breast area than other areas) wear them, even though they are potentially subject to similar back pain etc as women?
Why don't obese men wear sports bras when running/walking/whatever?
To discount the 'traditional' component seems odd, since it's clear from the responses here that there is, indeed, that 'presumption' and that it's far beyond "you don't need one" - he's been called gay, dude. That's not "you don't need support!"
