Happy Birthday Grandma MBJ!

Where do I begin?

From the age of two, you and granddaddy reared me to be the person that I am today. You didn't have much, but I didn't know that. One thing I did know is that I was loved. There was never a short supply of that in our home.

You are indeed blessed, and you pass those blessings on to everyone that comes in contact with you. You and granddad weren't educated people, but for folks that only had a 6th grade education, you were some of the smartest people that I have ever known. And now because of the way you've lived your life in front of everyone, God has rewarded you with 90 years on this earth. You remind me that life is still worth living, even in our advanced years.

I love you so much, and I'm looking forward to celebrating your life with you this weekend in NC.

Love you much,

'Rene

Congrats, Grandma MBJ, on your special day. I have heard lots about you, and how your steadfastness has benefitted your family.

God bless you on 90 years! Enjoy your celebration.

P.S. if there's any extra cobbler left, if you could see a way to have your Florida granddaughter FedEx it to Ohio, I'd be much obliged.

dear current employer~

is it neccessary for you to annoy me everyday? are u people serious? if u personally can handle working the third shift better than me, under the same circumstances, well bravo to u. if u have an issue with me personally, then man up and state your case. i mean the strategically placed pop-ins are getting to be ridiculous. let's be real with one another, a one on one conversation isn't really one on one when u bring in your back up now is it? and y in the hayle does the atm machine never shut up? who wants to hear that they're not smart subliminally 24/365. great move people...get real.

sincerely,

frustrated and tired of the bs

Dear Best Friend,

As your sister & someone who loves you, I’m sorry that you’re hurting. As me…. I can’t feel that sorry for you because you put yourself in that position. When you didn’t leave after the first time you were cheated on, then after you were disrespected, it let him know that it was okay to do so. Granted, he’s an idiot and he’s not worth the bullet it would take to kill him. True enough, he will NEVER find another woman who even comes close to you. But, you stayed. You stayed when I did all but beg you not to, and then you bought a house with him! Ugh. You could have been happy & drama free a long time ago. I stopped crying about your situation when I realized you really didn’t want to be out of it. I still love you, though.

Dear ex-Fiance,

Happy early birthday. Old girl had best lay out the red carpet for you tomorrow! I’ll be listening to Ultra Magnetic MCs and Black Sheep all day in your honor.

Dear Soon-to-be-President Obama,

I’m so proud of you. You’re handling all the garbage, ignorance, and negativity thrown at you with grace. I’m going to do everything that I can to help you reach your goal. Don’t let me down!

You're going through that, too, huh? I have a close friend in a situation just like the one you described. As of this past week, I've given up on trying to persuade her. She doesn't want out so I decided I will let her make her mistakes and I'll stand on the side and be there to help her pick up the pieces. I don't know why some women feel like they can't be stronger than that.

Dear Gabrielle Lee,

I don't know if I ever met you baby, but you are mine just the same. I hope you know now how many people love you and care for you, and would have done anything in their power to see you reach your dreams. I'm so sorry that some careless coward took you away from your family and our community. I promise to pray for them all, and I promise that whenever I think of you I will cherish every one of my students no matter how they creatively they may vex me. I know that the Lord will welcome you into His kingdom with open arms. His peace be with you til we meet (again).

All my love,
Ms. L

To The Following:

Dear BET:

You are the DEVIL!! You put "A Different World" on at 11pm knowing good and dayum well that I need to go to sleep in order to be up for bar review in the morning! You also KNOW that there is NO WAY that I can go to sleep while one of my favorite shows is on, thus forcing me to stay up later and watch these episodes as if I haven't seen them 1,908 times before. Sigh.... It's my only escape from the cards I have been dealt this summer.

Anyway, you still suck!

Dear Bar/Bri:

Thank you for Jason Kilborn! He is the Security Rights GURU and I don't know what I would do without him. Please let him to teach MORE subjects that are tested on the bar exam. He's so effective! I HEART JASON KILBORN!

Dear Bar Exam:

I'm going to kick you a**!

Dear Devil:

PLEASE stop creeping into my mind with your wicked messages of failure. I know that I can defeat this exam and I won't let you tell me otherwise. Passing this exam HAS been done before and it WILL be done again. Come Hell or high water, my hand WILL be raised in October.

Dear Everyone:

Save a prayer for me when you get a chance.

~RD
