Hip Hip Hooray!!! My son's fiance got a job!!!
Had to post because I'm doing a happy dance by myself in my office and I need to share
My son's fiance got her masters back in May and has been looking for a job in Gainesville since then. She has to stay there because my son won't graduate until May. Of course, college towns have very few jobs available, so it's been a real nailbiter .
Yay!!! They are so relieved, so I'm so relieved!!!!

She got her masters in secondary math education, and she got a job teaching geometry.
Unfortunately, there were NO teaching jobs in Gainesville (the only one she was offered was a long term sub position), so she interviewed in the nearest towns over, and got one!
She was worried about the commute - then she told me it would be 30 -45minutes each way! I was like, OMG - here in Houston people who live in the suburbs would kill for a 30 minute drive!!! Good thing she has an economical car!
I'm so happy - it is so stressful to not know if you have a job or not
Best of luck to you! I hope you find one soon. What type are you looking for (if you don't mind me asking)?

In all honesty, i'm not sure. I got my degree in Multidisciplinary Studies and i've mainly focused in on Communications. But, I don't have a lot of work experience, and what I do have is in retail (both clothing and food).
I've found a couple jobs that sound promising, but I guess i'm worried that I don't have the knowledge to do the job. A lot of the jobs that are available here either need 5+ years experience in that field, or are teaching or engineering jobs.

I hate the old "catch 22" of needing 5+ years of experience - but, how are you supposed to get the experience if you can't get a job!!!
Good luck!
My son will be in the same boat as you next spring when he goes job hunting. He is getting a double major in Economics and English, doesn't know what he is going to do with it. He has been working as a manager and bartending at a club, I guess he can say that he's had experience in management

I'm so happy for her. I'm from Gainesville, and I know how hard it is to find jobs there period.
Can you tell us the name of the town where she will be teaching?

Ocala. I guess it is a bigger school district because they had many more open positions than Gainesville. She feels really good about the school and liked the principal alot when she interviewed. I just hope she gets good kids!! She is a tiny, petite little thing and I worry they might "eat her alive"!!

My 4th grade crush is now a principal in Ocala - if hers is Rusty Corley, tell her he was really cute as a 10 year old.
