New England Cruise

Has anyone been on a New England Cruise in October? If so, is it worth going on? Here's the itinerary:

DAY DATE PORT

Sat Oct 7 Boston, MA
Sun Oct 8 Martha's Vineyard, MA
Mon Oct 9 Portland, ME
Tue Oct 10 Bar Harbor, ME
Wed Oct 11 Saint John, NB, Canada
Thu Oct 12 Halifax, Canada
Fri Oct 13 At Sea
Sat Oct 14 Boston, MA

We'd only be in each port for a day. We've never seen REAL fall colors (not past North Carolina, anyway), and I was wondering if this would give me my fix. We have a ten year old daughter that would probably enjoy a ship more than riding in a car forever-that's my thinking, anyway. So, any opinions? Everyone we know, like us, has only done various beach cruises, so I'd really like some imput.

LOTS of Dramamine for the 10 year old. That's my only input.

No Rhode Island? I LOVE Newport!

And I'll second the Dramamine.

(note - born and raised in CT, live in Boston, been in New England my whole life)

You most likely will not get a good look at fall colors in those areas. They are all cities; Martha's Vineyard may have some good colors, but I've only been during the summer.

In my opinion, if you really want to get a look at the fall in New England, your best bets are the suburbs of CT, Vermont and the Berkshires in MA.

Alright, Miss AlphaFrog, what do you know that we don't? We've been on several cruises, and not needed the Dramamine yet, so is there something I'm missing here?

Has she been with you on those cruises?? Just the way that you said that you thought she might like a boat better then a car made me think that she's never been on a boat.

I was the 10 year old (actually, I was 12) with my head over the side of the boat when I went on a Caribbean cruise.

Yeah, she's been with us on most of our cruises, and does great. (Except for the roughest night on the Disney Magic that also happened to be the night that she and I decided to eat Mickey Mouse Dark Chocolate Bars and cheeseburgers from room service at 10:00 at night while my husband slept unawares. She has NOT forgotten getting sick then, and doesn't let me forget it. Not my best mommy moment.)

No, I just meant she'd rather be on a ship w/ a climbing wall and a swimming pool rather than driving thru the mountains with her fifty-something parents. Poor kid, she got adopted by OLDER parents! (But as kid number 3, boy does she have it made!)
