Superman Returns

I saw the movie yesterday and it was EXCELLENT

I thought Brandon did an amazing job as Superman/Clark.

I'm not feeling it though on Kate Bosworth. I just don't think she made a really good Loise Lane, but what can you do.

LOVED Kevin Spacey as Lex. He was AWESOME

I'm ready for the sequel. LOL.

Watch what you say about Kate Bosworth. After I saw her in "Remember the Titans", I decided that if I ever become a stalker, she'll be the one!

Christopher Reeves was in the credits, very nice touch.

asuadpi and i must have seen different movies. i thought that the movie was incredibly boring, and moved along very slowly. even the opening credits were boring. the dialogue was very simplistic.

the guy who played superman is very handsome, but his acting was very one dimensional. it seemed to me that he had one facial expression for the entire movie.

kevin spacey was not a menancing lex luthor-he was a joke. so were his henchmen. and poor parker posey(lex's girlfriend)-i just felt sorry for her.

my husband liked the special effects, but toward the beginning of the movie, there is a shot of a mega yacht-it looked like a toy boat.

all in all, unless you are a huge fan of superman, i could not recommend paying full price to see this movie. it does not live up to the hype, and is not worth the price of admission.

Maybe it's just me, but there are parts of the movie where Kate Bosworth reminded me of Kristin Davis...the scene near the end where she's in front of her laptop totally screamed Charlotte York to me. Don't know why.

You are welcome to your opinion. That's totally fine that you didn't like the movie. I really don't appreciate that you are claiming that we "must have seen different movies" because I liked the movie and you didn't.

We are two different people with two very different opinions. And that's fine. It's okay that we have different opinions.

I'm sure we could come up with a movie that I absolutely hated but you loved. And that's okay! But I wouldn't start telling you that we "must have seen different movies" because I hated it and you loved it.

Well, I'll admit it -- I'm a Superman geek and I'm old enough to remember going to the theater 20 miles away from the town where I lived to see the unknown Christopher Reeves in the first Superman movie. I loved that movie. I had a fair amount of anxiety going into Superman Returns.

When the credits started, I wanted to stand up and cheer -- like with the Star Wars episodes, they were using the credit styles (and the music) from the earlier Superman movies.

It's Superman -- the dialogue's supposed to be simplistic and Superman is supposed to a grown-up super-powered Boy Scout without too many conflicted feelings. If one wants intense character development and layered dialogue, one goes to Marvel comics, not DC.

I had been particularly nervous about how Brandon Routh would do as Superman, but I thought he did very well. I had no complaints at all -- he was a very good successor to Christopher Reeve, who was the definitive Superman.

Lex Luthor isn't supposed to be menacing -- never has been really. Evil, yes; menacing, not so much. I was actually surprised at the continuity between Spacey's Luthor and Gene Hackman's in Superman II. Both played up the humor in Luthor. And the henchman and doll were right in line with both the earlier films and the comics.

I enjoyed the movie very much and highly recommend it. The only thing that really bothered me was that Metropolis was basically New York City with a Daily Planet building. I mean, I know that in many ways Metropolis is NYC, although to me it has always been more akin to Chicago, and that’s how I picture it, while Gotham City is really more NYC. (I’ve heard the comparison that Metropolis is NYC by day, Gotham is NYC by night.) But really, even if Metropolis is NYC in disguise, I don’t want to the see the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, the New York Life Insurance Building, etc., when Superman is flying by. Literally, the Metropolis skyline was identifiably the NYC skyline with the Daily Planet Building added. I found that somewhat distracting.

But otherwise, I'm ready to see it again.
