Superman Returns

I saw the movie yesterday and it was EXCELLENT

I thought Brandon did an amazing job as Superman/Clark.

I'm not feeling it though on Kate Bosworth. I just don't think she made a really good Loise Lane, but what can you do.

LOVED Kevin Spacey as Lex. He was AWESOME

I'm ready for the sequel. LOL.

Watch what you say about Kate Bosworth. After I saw her in "Remember the Titans", I decided that if I ever become a stalker, she'll be the one! ;)

I forgot she was in that movie. :D

Christopher Reeves was in the credits, very nice touch.

asuadpi and i must have seen different movies. i thought that the movie was incredibly boring, and moved along very slowly. even the opening credits were boring. the dialogue was very simplistic.

the guy who played superman is very handsome, but his acting was very one dimensional. it seemed to me that he had one facial expression for the entire movie.

kevin spacey was not a menancing lex luthor-he was a joke. so were his henchmen. and poor parker posey(lex's girlfriend)-i just felt sorry for her.

my husband liked the special effects, but toward the beginning of the movie, there is a shot of a mega yacht-it looked like a toy boat.

all in all, unless you are a huge fan of superman, i could not recommend paying full price to see this movie. it does not live up to the hype, and is not worth the price of admission.

Maybe it's just me, but there are parts of the movie where Kate Bosworth reminded me of Kristin Davis...the scene near the end where she's in front of her laptop totally screamed Charlotte York to me. Don't know why.

You are welcome to your opinion. That's totally fine that you didn't like the movie. I really don't appreciate that you are claiming that we "must have seen different movies" because I liked the movie and you didn't.

We are two different people with two very different opinions. And that's fine. It's okay that we have different opinions.

I'm sure we could come up with a movie that I absolutely hated but you loved. And that's okay! But I wouldn't start telling you that we "must have seen different movies" because I hated it and you loved it.

FSUZeta 07-02-2006 01:14 PM

asuadpi, i was not casting aspersions at your opinion of "superman returns", just trying to make a point about how different our opinions were. my comments were about the movie, not you. and yes, i am sure that we could find a movie that i loved and you hated, but that is for another time and another thread.

i AM sorry that you took my review of the movie as a personal attack-that was not my intention. and really, do our opionions matter that much anyhow? i mean, folks will go see the movie or not, because they want or do not want to see it, not because we are the siskel and ebert of greekchat.

ASUADPi 07-02-2006 02:15 PM

FSUZeta- :D, how did you feel about Bryan Singer (the director)?

I thought he was okay. I think he was definately pulling in his X-Men (no holds barred for special effects).

Your comment about Brandon's acting reminded me of how much I hated Hayden (Christianson) acting in Attack of the Clones. Your comment on "one dimensional", that's how I thought Hayden was in Episode 2. Now, I thought he was much better in episode 3, so I'm kind of guessing that Brandon will be better in 2 and possibly blow us away in 3. :D

Here's the thing that cracks me up...I was telling my brother this...How can you (the characters in the movie) not tell they are the same person!!!???!!! I just don't get it!!! Take off the glasses...WOO same person. LOL.

Do you think this movie was a good idea, or, do you think they should have waited until Smallville ended its run and restarted the entire franchise with Tom Welling in the title role?

I don't think Tom being in the title role was something they even considered. My brother is a huge Smallville fan and I asked him that (question) and he said something along the lines that Tom didn't want the role. I can understand that. Smallville has five seasons of him being known as "superman". If he did the movies, that is three movies that he would have had to sign on for and he would always be known as superman. That would be a really hard image to break. So I can understand why he would say no (if in fact he was offered and turned it down).
