Items on Ebay for sale?!

I regularly look at Ebay for stuff that I want, and typically I do a search for Beta stuff. I constantly see brother badges and things like that up for sale.

I wish I had the money to buy all of them when I see them. I usually try to buy them and find their rightful owner. If anyone is interested, I'd invite you to help me keep Beta artifacts and paraphenalia in "the family", so to speak.

Badge Buyer

I regulary try to purchase badges from E-Bay. Many of them get there from collectors who got them from estate sales.

I am "building" a collection from as many chapters as I can.

In _kai_,

Ed

There is one that is extremely old on there right now. 1869.

Building a collection is a cool idea. Maybe one day when I have money I will.

I currently bid for a badge from Alpha Beta chapter (c 1930) but I doubt I will be able to afford any more if it goes up. I thought it would be cool to have one.

too expensive now. 35 bucks i was willing to shell out, but that would be the limit of my budget

I got a really cool old badge off Ebay a while back, I think it's from the late 1800's or 1901 or something. If I can post a pic, I will.

If you still have your pledge manual, all of the chapters are listed in the back with their motto and all the other vital information. I'll see if I can find it also. Hope that helped.

^ sdbeta, I'm not completely sure that's an allegory. Allegory's are supposed to denote specific chapter identifiers. That item looks to be more of a general piece of Beta artwork.

I think bidding on this stuff is a BAD idea. Every bid drives the price higher and increases profitablility on these items. It makes sellers more likely to do it again.

Thumbs up More Badges On E-Bay

I have recently been able to rescue two badges from E-bay and I am going to bid on the two that are currently listed.

If you are going to bid, let me know via PM. I do not want to bid against a brother and drive up the price needlessly.

I have also seen several beta artifacts and badges on Ebay, this is quite upsetting; I commend you brothers for spending the time and money to reclaim them

I think that the prices regarding badges on ebay are brother's bidding against each other, only because they don't want someone who isn't a Beta to have the badge or are trying to send it back to the original owner. A couple month's ago there was a badge on ebay, so luckily the membership directory information was up to date on its owner. I sent him an email, and he ended up purchasing his own badge for about $56. Turns out it'd been gone for about 20 years. I sent various pm's on ebay to other bidders to hopefully slow down the bidding.
