I'm not surprised. All I eat is carbs and I'm pretty thin. Especially after the past few months, I lost like 12 lbs that I'm trying to gain back.

Have you been eating a lot of the complex carbs mentioned in the article? Or were there any major changes in your consumption that helped with the 12 lbs loss?

I just haven't been eating normally. My dad has been in and out of the hospital so I've been really stressed out and busy. And I was smoking like crazy.

Things are STARTING to calm down a little bit so I've stopped smoking and I'm starting to eat more. I hope I can gain about 8 more lbs. Shouldn't be hard since the holidays are coming up

The ultimate test in openmindedness is trying to remember that just as some people would like to lose weight, some people want to gain it and both are equally valid opinions and neither person "has it lucky" or "should stop complaining". Yes. *whew that was hard*

The article doesn't surprise me. Carbs aren't bad - junky foods is bad. It's just so happens that junky foods tend to have a lot of carbs.

My mother has the same issue - she drops fat the second she starts to worry about anything. (Thoughts to your dad though)....

Does it really surprise anyone that the people eating the most fruits and veggies are the thinnest?

I mean, REALLY. How many studies do they need to do to figure this out?

I've been living off of broccoli, celery, mushrooms, zuchinni, chicken breast and fish. Sometimes I slip up but for the most part I stick to it.
