Okay, so I just watched the movie "Kissing Jessica Stein" last night, and it really got me thinking. For those who haven't seen it, in short, it's a cute little movie about a young, successful, attractive (yes, feminine) woman who, after becoming frustrated with the dating scene due to her experiences with shady men, answers a "woman seeking woman" ad in the paper. What follows is a touching but frustrating romance between her and another successful, attractive (yes, feminine) woman. Neither woman had any previous lesbian relationships.
Questions:
Have you seen the movie? If so, what did you think about it? Do you think it's realistic, or do you think that stuff like this never happens in "real" life?
If you are a woman, would you ever consider it -- I mean, getting involved in a romantic relationship with another woman? Before you just jump right out and say "no way" as I suspect many of you will, what if it just sort of, well, happened? In the movie, Jessica answered the ad because the woman who placed it used a quote that really spoke to her (and it was a "friendship or more? ad). It was VERY clear at their first meeting that Jessica was COMPLETELY weirded out and tried to leave but couldn't get a cab. She was VERY uncomfortable with the whole idea...but yet it ended up happening. She had never done anything "like this" before, and apparently had never even THOUGHT about it.
What do you think? I hope that we can have a mature discussion...
