Question Would like to be social chair, need advice?

Hi Sisters,

We are having committee elections tuesday. I am interested in being social chair. But I was wondering if there is anything thing you could tell me about being a great social chair? Like, things that I may need to know or situations that may occur. Because if I get the position I want to make sure I have great social lined-up for the girls.

Thank you
Sisters

OK as a sister I would want to make sure my social chair made sure we did mixers with EVERY frat on Campus.. not just the ones that we "like" and hang out with all the time. I really want to get to know ALL the other orgs. on campus. NPC, NPHC, Multicultural, get known on campus. Also a good social chair always has things planned ahead of time, make sure they know you'll get things organized ahead of time and let people know when things are happening. Also make sure you'll always on the look out for opportunities to plan socials. Talk to everyone you meet who wears letters. Also try different themes and such, don't just stick when the same old parties that everyone has... see if some people here on GC have social themes that no one at your school has done yet. remember as the chair you are just supposed to lead and organize, but your comittee IS there to help you don't do everything on your own, you'll get bitter and so will the ladies on your committee. that's about all I can think of but GOOD LUCK and PARTY HARD hehehehehe

Hi! I was social chair last semester and the one pointer that I can give you is determine a fair and equal way to appoint sober sisters. My chapter ran into the problems of getting people to volunteer. And if they didn't volunteer, they were appointed--and usually the sister would say "well, I can't go now" or something like that. You can imagine the problems we encountered with that. Anyway, hopefully people will suggest ideas for this topic to help you out. Best of luck to you!

Make being a SS part of your point system if you have it. That's always a good idea, or make everyone pay the driver a dollar for gas or whatever... that might make people volunteer a bit more !!

I know this might sound like a repeat but here it is. I am going to try it again, I'm going to run for social chair next semester. I'm writing up my committee election. I believe that our last social chair got it because she was on e-board and the last e-board favored each other for most of the committee chairs.

Well, anyway, I'm just going to try again. So far I have a nice write-up but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on getting elected. I really want this position and I'm willing to wear my heart on my sleeve so to speak. I think running for a committee chair is harder than running for e-board.

Thanks and Have a good winter break and a happy new year.

Annice

how to get elected

social chair positions mean you're going to be the life of the party. and you know how to throw one. since elections are formal, you can solemnly run for the office. i would suggest outlining your previous social skills(like people would nominate me because i throw awesome theme parties). i would mention the kinds of socials that you had in mind.

Thumbs up Thanks White_Chocolate

Thanks that's a good idea to include my social skills and any other information that would let the vice-archon know that I'm qualified for the chair. I'll let everyone know next semester if I get it or not. Have fun over break.
