Question Multiple new member class?

How does a chapter do COB, without offering bids during certain set times? For example, I know chapters who do COB, but only offer bids during a predetermined 1 or 2 week period. All the women who accept bids during this time, become the next new member class and go through the new member program together.

I read a few posts, where it seems that the COB bids were being offered almost at any time. Do these groups have multiple new member classes? I am confused.

What we do is have a fall and spring pearl class(since we can't call them pledges we call them pearls after one of our jewels). Anyway those that join in the spring are still considered members of the fall class- they are the freshman class. So at retreat when we break into groups -the freshman are all together- they are not divided by the semester they joined.
Now regarding COB once we did this all spring, but it is very stressful and i those that join later in the spring miss out on a lot of stuff. Since our new member program lasts six weeks we will cram it and have those that join late(which has only happend twice) come and meet with our New Member educatior. But no we do not have different classes based on COB's. That would be too confusing!!
i hope you understood what I just wrote!

COBing can be tough. We were able in the spring to catch the girls up with the new member class that we got through formal recruitment, but we did have to hold a couple of rituals multiple times. Basically, we do our best to keep it to one class, even if there are people jumping in later.

COB

We did COB in Winter and in Spring. We had mini informal rushes, chose the girls we wanted to COB, then they were a class in themselves. For example, if our Fall Formal rush class was Alpha Alpha Class, the Winter class from COB would be Alpha Beta. We don't combine classes. I hear some sororites COB all year long, but at my chapter we didn't do that. If we didn't meet quota during Fall Formal Rush, we would hold a COB party right after Formal rush was over, that week, and give out more bids to girls that didn't go through Formal rush, those girls would then be a part of that Fall class.

It depends on when they sign.

If there's an existing new member class that's only a couple of weeks into their NM period, and someone signs, she becomes a part of that new member class. Obviously, she has her own new member ceremonies; then she meets with the new member educator to catch up to the rest of the class; then she just goes to new member meetings with everyone else, and is initiated with everyone else.

If there isn't an existing class, or if the existing class is only a week or two from initiation, the new member is in her own class. We've had several NM classes of one.

This past spring we had two pledge classes. Although I love every single girl in both pledge classes (including my awesome little who was in the latter pledge class), having two pledge classes was a pain in the neck. We had two big sis/lil sis events to go through, two new member periods, two initiations, etc. It was just very time consuming, among all of the other things that were going on.

We have delayed recruitment at St. Mary's Univ, so the first pledge class consisted of girls who joined through formal recruitment as well as a few other girls we COB'd right after recruitment. The following pledge class was a pledge class of COB'd gals.
