Hi Brothers,
I was sitting here thinking about how APO chapters pretty much adopt the identities of the campus they exist on, and how Greek terminology fits in there.
For example, as I've said before, my chapter has always had "pledge lines". But we never went through the formality of offering someone a "bid" as other organizations do, yet, I do know of some chapters that do.
So I just wanted to start a thread where we can list our chapter terminology and compare notes. I'll start:
We probably have more, but I'll wait to hear others.

Well, never heard many of your terms.
One thing I've found frustrating, is there is this kind of 'glo subculture' with many terms and pratices, but none of this is written down anywhere. Sort of all passes from word of mouth. Sometimes wish there was a "Handbook of Greek Life" that would explain all this stuff. sigh.
In my chapter, we don't have 'lines'. Each pledge class is given a greek letter (our first pledge class was Alpha, second Beta, etc). And they have their Pledge Class Namesake (Fall named by National, Spring by use). We do Big Brothers/Little Brothers and family trees and expect our pledges to know their family trees (other chapters I've encountered do this). We also give NIBs nicknames (done by their Big), but the little has final say so we don't give them something insulting. We also don't use bids as it seems to exclusive.
Some other terms we use:
Prospective- student who shows an interest in joining, but has not commented to the point of being made a pledge.
Neophyte- pledge who has completed their requirements and only has to be inducted to be a Brother.
NIB/Newly Inducted Brother- someone who has been a Brother for less then six months.
