Food you miss

I have relocated to Mobile Alabama. I was born here but moved when I was 10 years old. I grew up in NY and NJ. The food I miss most here is Italian Hotdogs, Hambugers and pizza by the slice. Oh let me not forget a hotdog off the corner vender with mustard and redonions

I don't really have a food that I miss. Mine is a restaurant. I went to college in Washington, DC and I am now back home in Memphis, TN. I miss Uno's Pizzeria. They had some of the best pizzas and desserts.

I went to Howard. I was there from 1994 - 1998

I'm originally from California, and I miss a fast food restaurant out there called "El Pollo Loco" that sells chargrilled chicken. YUMMY! You get a two piece with some flour tortillas and salsa, and it's ON! They also sell these "Pollo Bowls" with rice, beans, meat, salsa...they are delicious!

Also, in Cali, there is practically a Taco Bell on every corner. At my last place in LA, there were 3 Taco Bell's within walking distance of my apartment, but here in the DC Metro area, the closest Taco Bell is damn near 3 miles away. Why a sista gotta drive 3 miles to get a Taco Supreme, LOL.

At "Killer Shrimp", you get peel and eat shrimp that's been cooked in this fabulous broth and they give you some french bread and a bib so you don't get all super messy, LOL.

The best pizza in LA is a place called "Lomeli's" - it's a little hole in the wall, but my oh my, the pizza is INCREDIBLE.

Then there's the place near where I lived that sells the world's best Chinese Chicken Salad - it's called Rascals, and they sell loads and loads of that salad - I would always order and take one to parties/gatherings/potlucks, and people would lose their minds. It's just salad with pulled pieces of chicken breast and onion and such, but there is something special about the dressing that they make...it's fabulous.

And finally, I couldn't go without mentioning ROSCOE'S CHICKEN AND WAFFLES!! I simply HAVE to get my Roscoe's fix every time I go home to visit. If you ain't been, you can't understand, and NO, the Gladys Knight waffle spot in Atlanta is NOT the same, because I've been there, LOL. I dream about that #9 - a waffle and 3 wings (or is that a #13? I get it mixed up with a waffle and a breast, LOL).

If you want Mexican char-grilled chicken, go to El Pollo Loco in Wheaton/Silver Spring. It's off of Georgia Avenue on Viers Mill Rd. near Wheaton Plaza. If it's not on Viers Mill it's the street right after it--you can't miss it--it's across the street from the Blockbuster Video--just follow the smoke.
It's really good and cheap--you get a quarter chicken, cole slaw and fries ot tortilla chips for around $3.25!!!
