A woman who identified herself as Brehm's ex-girlfriend said she believes their recent breakup may have sparked his rampage.

I watched the footage from the man who filmed the event from a 4th floor window and yelled to distract the gunman. It was one of the most disturbing things (real life and not movie-based) that I have ever seen.

The man who made the video and yelled at the gunman was on CNN talking about why he yelled from the window and (successfully) tried to distract the gunman. Thank goodness that worked out. The gunman shot a few cars and injured about 3 people. The video shows cars making u-turns and trying to avoid the gunman. Thank goodness the gunman's attacks lessened once the man starting yelling at him. This was able to distract the gunman enough so that people could drive away and the police could block the road. The gunman was eventually shot by police.
