School Shootings
How many school shootings is it going to take before our country wakes up? I think Monday's shooting could have been prevented. The whole weekend the shooter kept saying what he was going to do on Monday. But because his friends did not believe he was serious they did not report this to the authorities. Then they say they patted him down to see if he had a gun on him. Only the weapon was in his backpack. If this is true, why didn't they report it if they had the slightest doubt. Was this a cry for help? Did he want someone to stop him before he committed this crime? What are your feelings on this?

as a parent, i have mixed emotions. i am puzzled as to why the parents of the alleged perpertrator(s) was clueless to their child(s) annhilator tendencies. How could you not know that your child was pre-occupied w/killing people? How could you not know your child was building bombs in your house?
Call me an old-fashioned parent (and I'm not old) but I know if a glass is out of place in my cabinet. I am disturbed that a child has accpeted that violence is the solution to his/her problem. I am equally disturbed that parents allow or foster this attitude in their homes.
Please say a prayer for all those who are parents, guardian of children, for strength courage and wisdom to raise , well-balanced productive citizens.

I'm still at a loss for words. Everytime something like this happens, it saddens me. Our society is going to hell in a handbasket, that's for sure.
It amazes me just how much times have changed since I graduated from high school. People never bought guns to school (that I know of). Not that I'm a proponent of this, but what happened to settling it after school with a good old fashioned fist fight?

I am also saddened by this tragedy. It makes no sense that this should have happened, especially since he gave plenty of advance warning. I am also sickened by the environment that may have drove him to commit the act. From all other reports he seemed to be a sweet, sensitive person-and sensitive people feel it more intensely when they are teased. Kids are so very cruel...but their behavior is learned from their parents and peers, which shows that that community has serious flaws.
I also think that school shootings would not be so common place now if the media did not sensationalize each and every event. Would this young man have thought that taking a gun to school would solve his problems if he HADN'T seen it on TV? I doubt it...but one never knows.

school shootings
i unfortuantely was in a school with a school shooting.
The guy had a crush on my friend/teamate but she had a boyfriend and was willing to be friends with himl. Just about the whole school year my friend/teamate was getting threatening emails from him and she had a bodyguard around with her. One day near the last day of school he went in her classroom with a gun and we was planning on only holding her hostage but the teacher stayed. He started apoligizing to her and then he shot and killed himself inside of the school.
