I dont need to be told I need to concentrate on grades. I know this... im not gonna tell my whole life story but in community college I didnt try... at all. & im not worried about bringing up my grades.. thats a must no matter what.
anyway my problem is, if I do formal rush...they require you to send transcripts in. So if I do open rush I wont have to right? Basically my buddy who is a president at another fraternity in a different state told me that on a fraternity vs sorority basis gpa isnt too crucial and most chapters wont dig deep initially. But once your a pledge your grdes going forward are vital.
So will I be able to rush? Or am I S.O.L by .2 points?

If the campus has a minimum GPA to rush, and you don't meet it, you're probably out of luck.
If the fraternity itself has a minimum GPA to pledge, they may or may not uphold it.
We don't know. But I think that it's ridiculous to think that grades won't be looked at during informal rush. Whatever standards the fraternity or campus has, I don't think it would change based on whether they are doing formal or informal recruitment at the time.
Then again, I could be wrong. But I don't know your school or the fraternities you are looking at. It's best to ask someone THERE at your school, for the answer.
One question, though. What would you say to people who asked why you "didn't try" at CC, and what will be different at a 4-year school where you would potentially be adding the work of fraternity pledging and membership? You'd better have a good explanation.
