Starting a Sorority
I did see a post sort of like this, but it was old and my situation dose differ some. I had to say that so no one would be mad! =D
Hello!
My name is Amber and I am a freshman at Valley City State University. My university is very small! We used to have two fraternity's, but they are no longer around that I have seen. I really want to start a sorority but I have no idea where to start! I am hoping that I can receive some guidance! Thank you for your time.

Check out the threads at the bottom of this page (under "Similar Threads"). Or check out this stickied thread: Before You Found a New Sorority.
Your question has been asked many times, and the answers are threads like these.
ETA: According to your school's website, you already have two local sororities.

In the list it is, but that appears to be a typo. If you look at the link for the society itself, it's Philomathian. ('Course, that's still not quite "Philomath ean.")
I know we all think of Phi Mu in connection with Philomathean, but many schools have had Philomathean societies over the years. Typically, they were/are literary or debating societies. The Philomathean Society of the University of Pennsylvania, founded in 1813, is the oldest continually-existing literary society in the country. UVA's Philomathean was founded in 1849. Phillips Academy's Philomathean Society, founded in 1825, is the oldest high school debating society in the country.

And at this school:
Quote:
In 1914 a Home Economics Group was founded by fourteen young women. The group they founded became and has remained an active part of the VCSU campus. This group became the Philomathian Sorority in 1919. Since 1919 the Philomathian Sorority has worked hard to promote its values of sisterhood, loyalty, cooperation, and character development. Today the Philos continue this tradition by sponsoring and taking part in a number of different activities.
Facts:
Colors: Pink and White
Mascot: Sweet Pea the Skunk
Founded: 1914 (became a sorority in 1919)
Flower: Pink Rose
Symbol: Hexagon - which represents the many facets of life

None of the other sororities or fraternities listed appear to have functioning sites though.

Yes, yes it is. I assume that's a more recent addition.
