Starting a new MC sorority
A group of 6 friends and myself are looking to start a new local Multi Cultural Sorority who focuses on helping freshmen intergrate in college smoothly regardless of denomination or race. We have started our constitution, rituals, mission statement.... we would like to receive any information on what the normal procedures are for approving it on a campus....any help would be great.

Most campuses already sponsor programs that help incoming freshmen become acclimated to college life - your campus doesn't have anything like that? What other types of programming is your organization interested in doing?
There are several organizations already out there, so I'm sure if you do a little research, you may be able to find something that fits you. If you decide to actually start something new, you'll find several threads in this forum with advice/stories/tips.
And as far as the procedure for being recognized, you'll need to check with the Greek Life or Student Activities/Organizations office.

Looking for routes
I am doing quite a bit of research, having a hard time finding mission statements. There is one organizatation that is doing a very poor job with helping young women intergrate in college. I wouldnt be opposed to starting a chapter of another sorority, are there sites to look at specifically?
We are aiming to provide community service though landscape enhancement, tutoring etc. Scholarships, fellowship and intergration. I know many organizations may have similar views.

There are a couple of threads here that may be helpful, I'm trying to locate them right now.
As far as the integration aspect, I was referring to events hosted by the school. My university has freshman groups that group certain students based on major, interest, etc. There are also mentor/mentee programs and "college survival" workshops help throughout the year.
The other programs that you're proposing seem like they'd be very helpful. And yes, I've run across several organizations that offer programs like those.
As soon as I find those threads I mentioned earlier, I'll post the links here for you.

Weird, last time I checked wikipedia's entry on multicultural orgs, we (Lambda Psi Delta) were on the list too.
Besides NMGC's website, I think there's another umberella organization that's home to some other multicultural orgs, I can't remember their name, but they also have a website with links, etc.

I definitely think you should look to see if there is another organization out there that fits your group's purpose. I PROMISE there is at least one group that you all will believe is a good fit.

Actually it is (Greek Letter wise) but the name next to it is Phi Lambda Upsilon. I used the spelled out names instead of the greek letters so that's my bad. Maybe you can go over and edit it.

You mentioned something about the sorority having the mission to help integrate freshmen into college-life. Just a note...many organizations and schools restrict sorority membership to women who have earned at least 12 credits (so they would be pledging as second semester freshmen at the earliest).
My sorority (which is multicultural) has environmentalism as a secondary cause (primary is breast cancer)...but individual chapters can participate in their own causes as well (as long as they contribute to the national causes as well). More information can be found on our website.
Best of luck to you!
