MANCHESTER, Conn. -- A driver caught stealing beer from the warehouse where he worked agreed to resign his job Tuesday and then as "cold as ice," one of his victims said, went on a shooting rampage, killing eight people and injuring two before committing suicide.
My response:
Rest in peace to victims, speedy recovery to the injured, counseling for the injured and the survivors, and blessings to all of their families.
This mass murder-suicide happened shortly after this employee calmly accepted the push to resign after he was shown footage of him stealing beer. Then he snapped.
The Early Show spent a significant amount of time discussing how the shooter (was a Black man who) claimed that he was being pushed over the edge by racial epithets and racial harassment at work. He told his family over the phone, prior to killing himself, that he shot the two men who fired him and the racist culprits. I call bullshit and I don't give a damn whether there was racial harassment at work. HR and the labor union claim he never complained about that and his family is now claiming he kept voicemails and other evidence of that--he may have. Regardless, this man was a psycopath and I refuse to reduce his getting caught stealing from his company, his son of a bitch craziness (or poor mental/emotional health) and his cowardice to a racial dilemma and racial strife. Fuck that and fuck him.
