University of South Florida Rush 09!
Rush at the University of South Florida starts in about ONE week!!! I can’t express how excited I am to meet all the sororities and my ΠΧ group! Today was the first day of classes and there were so many greeks wearing their letters that it made me even more pumped up for FR! I even talked to a ΠΧ today about recruitment (by the way the ΠΧ tote bags are very cute!). It was very brief because I am assuming they will discuss everything at the mandatory Orientation night.
There are 8 NPC sororities at my campus:
Alpha Delta Pi (ΑΔΠ)
Alpha Omicron Pi (ΑΟΠ)
Chi Omega (ΧΩ)
Delta Delta Delta (ΔΔΔ)
Delta Gamma (ΔΓ)
Kappa Delta (ΚΔ)
Sigma Delta Tau (ΣΔΤ)
Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA)
I saw in one recruitment story thread that someone did planets (redsweetpea I believe), so I decided to do astrological signs. In no particular order I have decided to use:
Capricorn
Saggitarius
Leo
Taurus
Gemini
Scorpio
Virgo
Aries
BUT I had an interest in rushing non-NPC sororities/fraternities, Pisces, and while I was on campus today I was approached by a few girls from Libra and I'm going to be honest... I was truly happy being around them and felt comfortable talking to them, as if I knew them for years. These sororities/fraternities have rush about the same time as NPC sororities do, so to decide on which I should rush is hard since I have already met some girls from Libra that were just AMAZING, but I want to give each NPC chapter a chance, including Pisces...

Good luck! I am not sure how USF rush works or how their sororities work (being as I'm not in an NPC sorority and I don't go to USF) but I was in a non-NPC co-ed Fraternity and some of our Brothers were also in NPC sororities...so if you want to do BOTH, you probably could. I'd just say do the NPC rush first, because from what I understand, upperclassmen have a harder time recieving bids.
If anyone else knows better, please correct me.

When you say "non NPC" do you mean NPHC, service sororities, or what?

Not so. Depending on the type of sorority/fraternity, she CANNOT do both.

Congrats on going through USF recruitment. All of the girls in Panhellenic have worked really hard with workshops and everything to make sure this expierence is amazing for you!
Both Twinkle555 and I hail from the Gamma Theta chapter of AOII @ USF
I hope you find the home that fits you the best! If you need anything please let us know. I am one of the recruitment advisors and Twinkle555 was a IIX as well.

One of them is Unified Greek Council (UGC?) and the other one is a co-ed fraternity. From my understanding, I can accept a bid from a co-ed fraternity and still rush NPC or UGC, but I cannot accept a bid from UGC and rush NPC. <- Sounds confusing. Can anyone confirm this?
It's just that today took me by shock because I never even heard of Libras, everything was really unexpected. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going through formal recruitment and still waiting anxiously to meet all the chapters!
Alphalove13----- When I was talking to a ΠΧ she told me how exhausting the past couple of weeks have been with recruitment! I'm sure recruitment will turn out great and I must say that twinkle555 has helped me tremendously with my annoying recruitment questions lol. I just hope your right and I do find a home.

I must say that I am quite jealous of this yrs batch of IIX's recruitment bags...lol.
I'm gonna root for Aries, since that is my boyfriends sign, and Sagittarius, since it is mine! So stoked for you girl!! <3 Have fun at the upcoming info nights and remember to keep your heart and mind open!
P.S- I'm no expert on UGC, but I am pretty sure you can't be in a UGC AND a NPC sorority...even if you could, that sounds superrrrr time consuming!

Woohooo Go Bulls. I'm a Chi O alum from there. Good luck with recruitment... it's going to be really hard to choose though because ALL the houses are filled with amazing women
Twinkle- This whole doing recruitment during school thing is new to me, how does it work out? I understand in order to get more girls interested in GL it's good to have it when school has already started but I cannot imagine how hard it must be for the sister's pulling all nighter's and going to class. I know from recruitment before classes began it was an all day and most of the night ordeal (granted I was on exec) but still draining.

Friday-Spirit Day
Sat- Phil. Day
Sun- Sisterhood Day
Monday (Morning/Afternoon)- Pref Day
Monday (Night)- Bid Day
Monday is Labor Day so everyone has off. Friday is a bit tricky because some people do have classes, so we have to miss sisters and sometimes PNMs because of this. They come back later in the day.

It started last year when I was a IIX and by the looks of it, it was rough on the Exec Board. I dont know how they kept it so organized! We had to ask girls to bring in school schedules and fill out conflict sheets. PNMs that missed events/parties b/c they had class had to run around with other IIX groups to "catch up". PNMs and active sisters were constantly checking in and checking out w/Pan the first two days...we had walkie talkies and we had to escort actives and alums to their houses..it was a crazy operation lol.
The disaffiliated women also had the extra possibiltity of having classes with our own sisters or other sorority women we were friends with...it really sucked sitting all by myself in my night class when one of my sisters and a SDT friend were 3 rows up
This year it will only be chaotic on Friday (last yr we had 2 Spirit Day's), the rest of the week is over Labor Day weekend!
GO BULLS!

It actually makes sense, first off I hardly no any sisters (especially Juniors/Seniors) that took Friday classes, even by Subway at Cooper it was quiet. The only thing that is crazy is pref and bid on the same day, talk about turn around.
Good Luck to all the houses.
I'm rooting for Virgo (my horoscope) and Gemini (my boyfriends).
