Fraternity/Sorority Formal, Semi Formal, Banquet, etc.

What are the main differences between high school dances and I guess college fraternity dances?

Does the guy still get a woman a corsage at college events? Do they still do all the "cute" matching of clothes and what not? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help.

Formals are not as much like a HS dance as you would think. I'd say definitely no on the corsage and probably not on matching. My boyfriend and I didn't clash at formal, but we weren't exactly matching.

The matching thing depends on the chapter, I guess. I know that most people down here match with their dates at formals.

The difference, I would say, is that formals are like proms that last longer and have alcohol.

Some chapters make it into a weekend-long event and travel to vacation spots for their formals.

We never matched with our dates on formals. Guys just wore a standard black and white tux, not a colored cummerbund or bow-tie. No on the corsages, too!

The difference between formals and prom....alcohol and chartered buses, rather than limos, to drive you to and from location. And much later curfew!
