Richardson Withdraws

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090104/..._pr/richardson

Interesting news - I wonder if this at all played into the President-Elect's decision not to offer Secretary of State to Richardson.

I seriously doubt it.

Yeah, probably not, but this is a bit of a setback for the President-Elect. Anyone see who he's thinking of putting forward in Richardson's place?

Why? If the specter existed/was known by the Obama camp as something that may come out upon vetting, it's much less important for the SOC than for the SOS, right?

This news suprised me since Richardson ran for President in the primaries....how was this not discovered before now?

'Cause there's nothing wrong ... Washington, and particularly this incoming regime, is all about appearance -- form over substance.

This news saddens me greatly. I did read in one article, though, that Obama said he looks forward to Richardson still playing a role in his administration, so hopefully once the investigation is resolved (and assuming he's completely exonerated), maybe he'll still be appointed to something.

There are some possible alternates listed under "other candidates" in this article: http://www.reuters.com/article/newsO...5032KR20090104
