Do all GLO's require no SummerII session attendance?

Hello, As you can see, I'm a new poster, but I have a question for each of you collegiates (or alums): Does your GLO require that you NOT attend the last session of summer school because "it interferes with recruitment"? Is this normal overall, is this normal for particular groups, is this normal at certain schools, or is this confined to one particular group at one particular campus?

I hope my outrage is obvious, or at least my confusion. As a parent, I thought my child was in college to gain an education, and that GLO's put scholarship at the pinnacle of each member's achievments. Please help me understand this, or if this is peculiar to my child's GLO, let me know how/if it can be countered.

It was an alumni advisor who sent this message last week. No summer jobs or internships either, or fines will be assessed for each missed recruitment workshop roll call. Thanks to all of you!
