There will probably be a shitload of Edwards and Bellas in 5-10 years, and probably quite a few Alices, Jaspers, Rosalies and Emmetts, too.

What films, books, tv shows, etc. are these names from?

All those other names are from Twilight, too.
Edward's "brothers and sisters"

Those are already here.
My son is 2, and his pre-school class, Sunday School class, and our neighborhood are all loaded with kids named Bella, Belle, and Isabella. We also have several friends who have named their kids some variation of this.
My husband and I stuck to very traditional names for our children that can not be limited to one era (I have such a 1970s name that it makes me want to hurl) and could never be considered trendy. The names will also look very nice on the top of a resume or on a med school application.

Farrah or Tennille?
I still don't think Emma is anything compared to the Jenny/Jennifer boom from Love Story. Anyone who went to college in the 80s (and had to refer to Jen M, Jen G etc) will know exactly what I'm talking about.

ROTFL at this thread! I have a few on this list: Maura, Emily, Noah, Larissa, Jordan, Darryle (girl), Amy, Melissa.
There are some names I don't negatively associate with former students but wouldn't name my children, just because they've been very common: Caitlin (and variations on spelling), Chase, Cody, Dylan, Jacob. I once had a single class with two Codys, two Chases, and a Caitlin, Katelyn, and Kaitlyn. I'm not kidding.

This made me giggle... I'm Emily and my sister's name is Moira (which is similar to Maura)

This kid on the soccer team my son played against this weekend was named "Josefat". It was spelled just like that on his jersey and his teammates were calling him that as well so I'm assuming it is not a last name.

I was out the other day and I thought a kid was named Simian. I was so upset the kid was named ape/monkey but then realized it was probably Simeon. Unless his parents study classical languages and it is a nickname for his ability to swing on monkey bars or climb trees, but I doubt it.
Another one I'd scratch off my list due to double entendre.

Last names are usually on Jerseys.
People on sports teams call each other by their last names during the game sometimes. Neither forename nor surname can be ruled out.

In most cases yes, but in this league that my kids play in, they put their first names on the jerseys. This group too was in the "Under 12" division but all of the kids on my son's team atleast were in elementary school with only one being in 6th grade.

Anything with capital letter, apostrophe, and then another capital letter just annoys me. For example, N'Dari.
I have at least five students each semester with apostrophe's in their name.

I'm not a teacher, but I work with children. Several names have been ruined for me (although, some of these I never would have considered anyway):
Destiny (or any alternative, such as Destinee, Destined)
Journey
Heaven (or any alternative, such as: Heavenly, Heaven-Leigh)
Nevaeh (yes, that's Heaven backward)
Hope, Truth, Patience, Charity, Chastity (pretty much naming your child after a "virtue" removes any possiblity that they will possess said virtue)
any jewel of any form (Diamond, Diamoniq, Emerald, Saphire, Opal, Topaz - this is unfortunate, because I like Ruby)
Cheyenne, Dakota, Kiowa (anything "Western" sounding)
I've also had some doozies: Fast Indy Race (one can probably guess what the last name is), twins named Rage and Fury, more than one ABCDE (that's pronounced ab-suh-dee), Placenta (the mother heard the nurse say it and thought it sounded pretty), Clitoris (I didn't even ask why), and I'm sure I'll remember more later.
Unfortunately for me, my own name is actually on this list. I've asked my mother how it's possible I never ended up in foster care (I think it offended her).

My hubby and I, who have both been teaching for years, had such a hard time naming our kids because there were so many names that reminded us of particular students. Every time one of us would suggest something, the other would object almost immediately!
When I was pregnant with our fist, we had decided on Allison or Grant (we didn't know the sex). Of course, after deciding on those names, we had to change them because of our summer school rosters: As luck would have it, hubby had a Grant in his class, and I had an Allison in mine. Both students were slackers and wrecked all our planning!

I guess there is a plus to teaching internationally- I would never consider naming my kids most of the names they have!
But I would add to the list: Johnny, Jordan, and Alissa. Those are the one sticking out in my head for the moment.
