I want to support our movies, but I'ma need the theater to have a 9 or 10 am showing on the opening weekend .... cause I know "we" are not gonna get up that early for a movie.
Lynn Whitfield was made for that part!
Boris Kodjoe was fine...even with the Afro. Not really feeling Henry Simmons or Blair Underwood.
It was a good movie though, I will be getting it on DVD.

I thought that was just me on the folks in the audience quoting.
From the moment he slapped his fiance, Blair pissed me off. Henry Simmons, what were you there for? I kept thinking he would be there to woo Lisa away from Carlos but nope.
Boris. . . .you had me at "to restore."

Nah, I wanted to tell those kids in the rows behind us to shut the hayle up! Just watch the movie and LEARN something!
To me Henry Simmons didn't have a purpose for being in this movie, unless TP was trying to introduce that character for the next movie.

I met 1BG yesterday. She's my neighbor. Cool peoples and stuh.
I think you're right, MeezDiscreet, his story must have ended up on the floor. Donna (the "cousin") who went with them to the spa -- her storyline was seriously scrapped as well.
Okay this was bothering me in the movie so I have to let it out.
Boris told her on the bus that he takes his son to the park on Saturday. Next we have Madea taking Foster Child to the school bus. Next we have Boris and his son and Vanessa and her 2 kids at the park. AFTER THAT, Foster Child comes home from cutting school. Boris and her did not hang out at the park on a legit Saturday. GRRRRRRRRR that was my beef.
Kudos, though, to Lisa Arrindell Anderson for her scene where she confronted her mother in the bedroom and relived her childhood rape. Very convincing. I shed some tears.

I'll have to pay attention to that next time I see the film. Your cousins had me so aggravated during the movie that I feel like I didn't even see it.
[soapbox]
Your cousins and lil' cousins get on my last nerve sometimes. Why were they LAUGHING during the movie whenever someone not that attractive was on the screen? Why were they LAUGHING when Lynn Whitfield retaliated and said what her mother had done to her? Why were some little boys disrespecting women for clapping in the movie when Cicely Tyson stated that we are MORE than our hips and thighs?
I don't understand our people sometimes. I feel like Cicely's message was lost on most of the people in the theater. *le sigh*
[/soapbox]
Since I couldn't enjoy this film, I KNOW that going to see Dave Chappell's Block Party next week is BEYOND out of the question!!!!!

I had to deal with the little ignorant folx at the movies as well. I will NEVER go to the Lennox to see another movie again (Those from Columbus can feel my pain). They were talking throughout the entire show, and I mean they acted as if there was no one else there! It was a shame that people had to move to the front of the theatre to try to enjoy the movie.

My daughter and I caught the 1:30 matinee this afternoon. The theatre was full, but the only disturbance was someone's child who had a little crying fit. We enjoyed the movie very much. This will be part of my DVD collection.
The wedding scene was soooooo beautiful. Dayum, dayum, dayum @ Tyler for making me cry, lol.
Was anyone else happy when Lisa knocked the hayle out of her mother???? Soror Lynn sure can play an evil woman when she has too, lol.

Unfortunately, we had a lot disturbance (kids playing tag running up and down the stairs) which resulted in a group of us getting a free ticket to a future movie.
I think you mean Vanessa knocking the hayle out of her mother and yes I clapped loud. Lynn definitely can play an evil person even better than in "Thin Line Between Love and Hate".

#1 film in America
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060226/...RrBHNlYwM3NjI-
LOS ANGELES - Tyler Perry fans reunited at theaters for another tale of mad black women. "Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion," a comic drama in which writer-director Perry also stars in three roles, debuted as the weekend's No. 1 movie with $30.25 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.
It was a second gold mine for Lionsgate Films, which also released Perry's "Diary of a Mad Black Woman," the movie that opened as No. 1 with $21.9 million on the same weekend last year.
Lionsgate hopes to have a third Perry movie out over the same weekend next year, said Steve Rothenberg, the company's president of distribution.

I really enjoyed this movie. I didn't laugh as hard in this one as I did in the first one, but the this storyline actually touched me more. It was MUCH better than the play. I can't wait until it comes out on DVD!
BTW: There were alot of folks from my church in this movie...the girl singing in the spoken word scene attends my church..I hope t have her sing in my wedding one day!

The play was better than this movie. The play was soooooo funny. I love Mr Brown. But I am happy that Mr. Perry is finally getting his dues.
