Have you noticed after the goose is delivered how the entire family is in hysterics during the movie? Somehow I don't think that is in the script.

I've wondered about that myself.

So apparently Britney was released today after 24 hours of her 72 hour hospital hold. They said that she was no longer a threat to herself or others. ...yeah okay, why do I think that was a mistake of the hospital? I am so sick of these celebrities not facing the full responsibility. That is why they are so messed up.

I've NEVER heard anything connecting Annette Funicello to any drug use! Even a Google search didn't bring up anything. I would be shocked...and it's hard for any celebrity news to shock me.
As trashy as the Spears family seems to be, it would surprise me if Lynn had anything to do with introducing her daughters to drugs. When you're in your teens and 20s, it's nearly impossible in some circles NOT to be around drugs and alcohol with your peer group.

Regardless of whatever disease she's suffering from -- no drug, no intervention, no life coach and comfort from her "loved" ones will work unless Britney decides for herself that she's willing to ask for help.
Without willingness, she'll just continue on this path of destruction and I'm sorry, I just can't be sympathetic to that.

kathykd, Thank you for your sharing about your Mom. It takes a lot of courage to share experiences with mental illnesses. You rock!
I no longer care for Britney as an artist. But, I care for her as a fellow human being. I pray for her recovery (recovery from mental illness IS possible). I pray for her two sons, as I'm sure life is extremely confusing for them right now. I pray she gets the help she needs to be a good mother and to be an important part of their lives, and an integral part of society. If anything, this occurrence might give people the courage to receive treatment.
ETA: Mental illness is something that happens to a person. They do not choose to be mentally ill. She might be so sick, she may not understand what she's doing (Don't shoot me! Just saying and being an advocate! I worked at a nonprofit for clients with mental illness)

My bad. It was another celebrity, who is a good friend of Annette Funicello's, and even her early drug abuse is 50/50 - she won't state a definite yes or no, even after suffering a somewhat defining drug abuse illness.

When I was in middle- and high school, I knew a lot of theatre people. Quite a few of their parents introduced them to speed, so they could handle stage shows AND still be at school. Looking back, I'm amazed at how young some of these girls were - maybe nine or ten years old.
But you're right - in many circles, it's almost impossible to avoid contact with drugs or alcohol, even at an early age. Plus, you have a generation of parents who can't say that they never inhaled (honestly, at least).

At this point, it can't hurt. And maybe the fact that he is a celebrity will give him some standing with Britney - I don't know. It's just so sad for those poor little boys.

Ok, but why, when my browser opened, were the first 3 links under "Entertainment" stories about Britney's DAD, MOM and DR. PHIL?!?!?! They just can't stop exploiting her, even in her darkest hour, can they? Sick sick sick.

As far as Judy Garland was concerned, it is a very similar situation, with an additional complication - her father was gay and in the closet and while her mother was on the one hand milking Judy for all she could get, on the other hand I think she believed that she was doing the right thing in keeping her away from a troubled home life, even if things at the studio were stressful. Remember, back then no one knew diet pills and tranquilizers were addicting. This was the middle of the Depression - half the country didn't have a job, let alone one at a movie studio. You didn't look a gift horse in the mouth, you shut up and did what you were told.
Britney's parents have all that information available and they should have stepped in after the 24 hour (or however long it was) marriage to that Jason guy and made her GET HELP. IMO that was the beginning of all the craziness. At this point, I think she would have to be given an adult caretaker (if there is such a thing) because her family hasn't shown any inclination or ability to help her.
