Are you kidding???

I can't believe what i'm reading. I really can't believe what
FiReKraCkEr has been writing. You think you can speak for asian women because your father is half korean and you lived in Korea for a while. Excuse me but i don't know where you grew up but not all asian women serve their men. We are raised to take care of our families when we get older and i don't think there is anything wrong with that. If my brother is responsbile for taking care of my parents when they are too old to take care of themselves than that's up to him. You did not grow up in Korea but you think you can judge everyone because they don't believe what you believe in. You probably go to other countries wondering why no one speaks English or wonder why people in different parts of the world are not as independent as women here are. I think you forget that you are lucky to be in a country with so much freedom but you abuse it by judging other people and their culture. You have a lot of nerve and i can't believe your sorority would accept such an ignorant person. Maybe you will grow up in a few years and realize that the world is not like the one you grew up in. I'm embarrassed to know that your part korean and such an ignorant one. Grow up!

I can always tell a chinese from a korean from a ....i'm starting to think everyone on here is still in high school. did we all go to college or am i dreaming. if this was a discussion on how you could tell the difference between black people from the us and from other countries this forum would be shut down. you are all so ignorant. not all asian women wear a lot of makeup and no you can't always tell where asian men and women are from. i get chinese, japanese, korean etc. the best way to find out is to ask. don't you have anything of importance to talk about instead of talking about stereotypes. i guess it's easy when your anonymous...easy to write what you really think isn't it.

Thanks for answering the first question, btw...
I apologize if someone's already posted the answer/opinion to this but I haven't had the time to read through all the posts in this thread.

You may recall the waves of immigrants from Asia to the United States in the late 60s to the 70s. If you do the math, the children of these immigrants were attending colleges and universities nationwide around the late 80s and early 90s -- around the time many Asian-interest GLOs were established.

Where's that Pho Shizzle thread when you need it?

Send a message via AIM to squirrely girl
kinda random - but i've found the facial recognition part of this thread to be pretty interesting. there's actually a lot of psychology related to this phenomenon (people from one culture/race being less able to identify or differentiate among people from other cultures/races) - there are actually a couple of good studies out there that are sometimes talked about in intro to psych books during the social psychology section...

Meet Lady Bobby and Her Lovers

Since I'm a round eye Asian, I suggest you keep quiet before I blindfold you with floss and run over you with an Accord.

Are all Asians being lumped into one category now?

Stan, I have seen much more beef between different Asians (ie Koreans against Filipinos) than I have between whites and asians.

Lumping Asians into one category and then saying that whites exploited Asians when building railroads for example probably also allows for some groups to take credit for others' suffering.

funny how defending my race is an issue for the ones who replied to my comments.
i don't think there is anything wrong with my comments on the stereotypes that are being written on this board.

Hence why most of us haven't said there's anything wrong....

I don't think the comments on this board are necessarily sterotypes. They sometimes come from people's own personal experiences. My high school graduating class was probably 40% Chinese, and many of these girls were very spoiled and yes, "too hip to care" about many issues. I can't say that all Chinese girls in Canada are like that, but many come from families where parents are so busy that to show that they love their kids, they give them money and other materialistic things. It's sad, but true.
