I'm from New York, and I really like Southern men.
The College of William & Mary was the second college chartered in the American colonies on February 8, 1693 in Virginia. It's not an Ivy League.

Soda is the fizzy stuff you mix with liquor......Pop is the good sweet stuff you drink.......but actually, here in Ohio, we just say "Coke" as a catch-all.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: WRONG WRONG WRONG...and a list of observations
Well, Life I haven't eaten meat in about 15 years but when I did it was almost always BarB Que. My family BarB qued every freakin week and still does- I just don't participate now. My uncle can Bar B que anything. I would hate to see his arteries on a microscopic level . Give him a case of Lone Star, carton of cigarettes and a huge briscuit on a Sunday afternoon and he is in heaven.
I LOVE Rudy's BBQ Sause (yes it is Sause, not Sauce). I stop by there almost once per week to get the potato salad and huge cup of pickles-ummmmm. I love to go in there and just sit there and smell the BBQ but alas, I will never touch another piece of meat so long as I live.

I must meet him. Thoughts of "Luke, I'm your father" come to mind.

Correct on the sause thing. my bad. may the lords of bbq forgive me.
My favorite thing about Rudy's is that you smell like it for the rest of the day. That and that you can put your entire meal on your Exxon card. Love dinner at a gas station. Now thats southern.

You think that's bad?!?! People hear that I'm from Canada and they automatically assume I say "Eh" and "Aboot"! It drives me insane!!!!! I"m from Nova Scotia, not Ontario (where I find more people say Eh...and have a strong accent) Dammit!!!
Don't mean to offend any Ontarians out there....it's just my observation. I lived in Toronto for a bit and they do have an accent there...and my cousins in Ottawa live for saying Eh a lot!!! I just wish people didn't assume that I say it simply cause I'm from Canada! We're not ALL the same up north you know!!!!

Sis Plum, that is what is nice being from Ks/Mo we do not have accents! Eh, where did you say you were aboot from?
What I love, is a Black AGD from NY with no NY accent and A Koren AGD from the south with Accent of the good ole south especially when she gives me hell! Oh, She talks great English, not the "Kings" of course. A gay Brother from NY an Alum from Fl who talks like a Cowboy!
Ah heck go figure! Everybody N/S, E/W of of MO, Ks. say EH? At first I thought they were hard of hearing so talked louder!

Well I am from Washington DC, we dont have an accent, we talk normal. I go to school in Southeastern Massachusets. I agree that they cannot pronounce their R's. If I talked like that in grade school they would put me in speech therapy. It sounds weird but you get used to it. And every noe and then I drop my R's. and the word is SODA. who says pop??? who says coke??? Coke is particular brand of soda. Oh yeah and New Englanders never leave new england. They live there, go to school there, have a career there, get married there, and die there. And they are very afraid of going to the south. The south is awesome great people, awesome food. Great vacation spots. Thats all for now. And the Mid-Atlantic Rocks!!!!

Y'all, it's "Coke." It's not "soda" and it sure ain't "pop." It's "Coke." I don't give a d*** if it's Pepsi, it's all "coke." Also, I think that the one about the true south is very true... all of these Florida people on here talking about how they're southern... Florida may be south of the rest of the United states, but it sure ain't southern!!!! And there's a big difference between South Carolina and North Carolina... North Carolina didn't seceed, and North carolina doesn't still have the confederate flag on their state grounds, and North Carolina doesn't hold the confederate flag of higher importance than the US flag... well, at least, most of North Carolinians don't. And let's face it, the classy south is Georgia. I love it, lived there for three years, and can't wait to get back! Anyway, just wanted to implant some thoughts from a TRUE Southern Belle!

South Florida is not part of the true Deep South, but I think northern Florida should count as part of the South. Southern Florida is like the Carribbean whereas northern Florida fits into the whole Deep South thing. Maybe we should have North Florida and South Florida. No, wait, maybe my scholarship wouldn't count then, so forget it...

To all of the southerners that call SODA, coke. I respect your culture and all (my dad is from south carolina and my mom is form alabama) but dont you know that you COKE is a particular type of soda???? If "ya'll" left the south and said "i'll have an orange coke." no one would know what you were talking about. I think pop is weird, but people will sorta know what you are talking about. Thats all for now.

This is all so funny
First thing it is Coke....Because Coke is it.......
I noticed you didnt touch the State of Lousiana or especially my city New Orleans....Probably because your Smart Bro or Sister went to Tulane.......and then flunked out when they couldnt keep up with us.....Plus we have accents that are a mix between Brooklyn, and Cajun......Very confusing to yall, but very cool sounding........As for the comment about no Southern Team has won a superbowl in along while........We dont have to, because those so called elite Northern teams are full of the best players from Southern schools............. Plus on a consistent basis the SEC kicks the crap out of all those elite northern schools.........ie, the Big Ten.....or should I say big pile of shit.......So to round it all up we think Yall talk funny, yall think we talk funny, yalls schools arent any better than ours, and we are more athletic, you admitted we have better looking women, so that means we are all better lookin than yall, and we can drink yall out of existence.........Yall are our Nerdy ugly funny talkin Cousins who we dont invite to our parties cause yall embarass us when yall pass out at 8 at night!!!!!!!!! Ha ha hahaha.....The South Rules you and your mama...............................

Whoaaa dawg, Sioux City is not that bad ... partly bad because it is part of Nebraska and South Dakota too!
Just "poudonk" (sp?) part of Iowa smells bad, such SE Iowa (Washington, Wellman, Keokuk, Iowa City - just kidding).
Accent-wise, true, true, Iowans don't have accent - not like Dakotas, Illinois (esp. Chicago), Minnesota, Wisconsin .. all national channels prefer to choose midwesterns (with their POP) to broadcast news, etc.
BTW, it IS pop ... Pop, pop, pop Because Pop is pop.
Coke refers to Coca Cola, that means Pepsi is NOT coke. How about Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper ... they ain't no Coke! Their POP

Ok, ok.. so maybe north Florida is the south, I don't know... All I know is that if you don't have a southern accent, it shouldn't be considered southern. And we say "coke" because the birthplace of "Coke" is in the south... Atlanta, GA, to be exact... And if I wanted a Dr. Pepper, I'd ask for one... Do you say you want a soda if you really want a Dr. Pepper? And if I wanted a Pepsi (ick ick ick... why I'd ever want a Pepsi is beyond me!) I'd ask for "Pepsi" and if I wanted an orange coke, yeah, I'd say orange coke. But if I just want any old coke ( or soda, pop, whatever) than I'd say "Coke."
