The weirder thing is just this weekend on Lifetime was the made for tv movie regarding the case. Since I was a lasy arse all weekend, I really got into it. It was so interesting since some time had past and there was more perspective (for me) and I came away thinking the Ramsey's didn't do it. Though their behavior was odd.
And then a few days later an arrest.
Weird coincidence.
An he was a 2nd grade teacher. Fabulous.

Fascinating and wonderful. I honestly thought this was destined to be unsolved.

I guess Mr. Ramsey may speak out once this is solved but Patsy died in June.
I think though that this will be the example law enforcement officials talk about for years to come in that sometimes when some evidence says it's the parents, sometimes when the parents behavior is off, it's sometimes not them.
I think many people will be able to learn a lot from this case.

Would it be too early to point out that the case isn't really "solved" yet. A suspect has been arrested and allegedly confessed.
As was pointed out by legal experts here, the prosecution still has an uphill battle to prove the case.
The present Boulder DA (not the one from the time of the crime) has called a news conference for tomorrow morning. Perhaps we will know more then.

I do hope this case in the end will be 'solved' so there is closure.

If I remember correctly, that movie was really, really slanted AGAINST the parents (?)

The Tabloids and cable nets are going to have a heck of a time figuring out whether to lead with Jon Benet or 9/11 for the next couple of weeks.
Maybe we need a good Hurricane for FEMA to screw up...

I heard on the local news this morning that the guy got Champagne and Prawns in business class on his way back to the US from Thailand.

That's sad. I wonder what they serve in the cargo hold.

Yeah,
Plus he wasn't handcuffed. I mean we already know he's a flight risk, so why shouldn't he be treated like any other prisioner who is being transferred?

They might actually lead with Katrina too, since the 1yr anniversary is approaching.

Everyone was suspicious of the family b/c they refused to be interviewed when at any other crime scene, the parents would be separated and interviewed to see if their stories match etc. They were treated with "kid gloves" b/c they were rich and if they had cooperated they maybe could have been ruled out ages ago. I never understood why they refused to be questioned by the Denver police. So many things didn't "jive" like the ransom note being written from paper in Patsy's drawer, like a burglar is going to wait till he gets to the house to write the note?

I don't know. At the point I concluded that the police regarded me as a suspect, I think I might refuse to cooperate as well.
Many of us have such a positive view of the police that we assume that they are interested in investigating until they get to the "truth," but if you've read a few cases about the wrongfully convicted, this view may be faulty.
I agree that I was suspicious of the Ramsey's behavior, but looking back, it's hard to really see them as having benefited at the hands of the police.
And I think you're underestimating the level of their cooperation. They supplied DNA samples, were interviewed. etc. It was an entirely new method of DNA analysis that was able to definitively clear them, so it's hard to say that they could have been cleared earlier.

I read a book written by the lead detective in Denver and he said once the body was found (and she was no longer missing), they refused to answer any questions at all. And it went on like that for years. Police always rule out the family and close friends first.
